Help celebrate our June birthdays- Debbie, Margie, Sally, Jim, Pat R, Lucy, Mark R, Jackie. (others ?) with our annual ride from Valley Ford through Occidental to Duncans Mills for lunch and birthday treats with a return along Hwy 1. The basic ride is about 40 miles with an optional 7 or so miles along Austin Creek and back up Cazadero Hwy. On return along Hwy 1, there is an optional steep climb up Bay Hill Rd.
Bring lunch or buy lunch in Duncans Mills. There are pizza and sweets at the Gold Coast Coffee and Bakery where we have lunch or you can buy a sandwich across the road at the general store.
Questions, email Debbie.

Meet at 8:00 am
Mandatory pre-registration
Two rides with 4 Epic Climbs; Complete 3 of the 4 climbs to qualify for the monthly raffle (see details).
Please note these are self-directed rides you can ride alone or with your friends. These are not group rides with a leader, although during the month some GPC members may offer them under a separate listing as a group ride.
Sierra Road & Welsh Creek
While a reasonably modest distance of about 48 miles this suggested route includes two epic climbs and 5.8k of climbing including Sierra Road and Welsh Creek. Berryessa BART is the starting point and finishes at Pleasanton BART. For those that drive to the start be aware parking is not free on weekends in this Valley Transit Parking lot. Unfortunately there isn’t a place to get water after starting up Sierra Road all the way to Sunol (about 30 miles) so bring extra. There are two gas stations at the foot of the Sierra Road climb for those that need to top off. Sierra Road is a 3.5 mile 1800 foot climb with a great view of the South Bay. After reaching the summit, Sierra Road will merge into Felter Road and intersect with Calaveras at mile 13. For those low on water turn left on Calaveras and ride less that a mile down to Ed Levin Park for water and bathrooms before heading back up Calaveras Road to the Reservoir. Enjoy the winding road along Calaveras and the nice down hill stretch because awaiting your arrival at mile 25 is a very steep 3.7 mile 1850 foot climb of Welsh Creek. Its fairly flat to Sunol where convenience stores and porta potties are available for those in need. Be careful riding Niles Canyon, traffic moves fast with a narrow bridge section with no shoulders and dangerous rumble strips dividing the shoulder from the lane on several stretches.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36254263
King Ridge & Fort Ross
This 69 mile ride with 7.1K of climbing starts in Duncan Mills (good coffee shop) but a start in Cazadero will trim off 15 miles. King Ridge winds 26 miles though spectacular vistas of the Sonoma Hills before emerging at Stewarts Point. It is very remote so bring lots of water and be sure your bike is in good repair. The climbing starts at Cazadero and continues for 11 miles and 2300 feet until reaching the summit. Keep an eye peeled for the occasional pickup truck as well as cattle wandering on or near the road. Good food and bathrooms are available at the Stewarts Point store and be sure to top off water. Very often the wind blows southbound, if so, relax and enjoy the view as you ride the 15 miles to Fort Ross. There is a Fort Ross Store at mile 47 for those that need to top off before the turn and the 2.5 mile , 1300 foot climb up Fort Ross Road at mile 49. From the summit of Fort Ross, there’s still a few hilly miles to go but then a long fast descent back to Cazadero and a flat ride back to Duncan Mills.

Meet at 9:30 am
Start Location: San Rafael - Marinwood Community Center
Pre-registration closed. You can sign in at the start.
We'll ride to Olema via Nicasio Valley Rd and Sir Francis Drake, then on to Inverness Park to pick up lunch, which we will carry to Hearts Desire beach. Optional climb of Mt. Vision after lunch. Return through Pt Reyes Station.
Here is the route on RideWithGPS.
Shorten the ride to about 55 miles by parking in Nicasio and joining us as we turn left from Lucas Valley onto Nicasio Valley Road, probably about 10:15. Another option is to skip the out-and-back climb of Mt. Vision after lunch, which saves about 10 miles and lots of climbing.
Please read the GPC Covid policy regarding vaccinated-only rides. Bring your vaccine card or a facsimile (paper or electronic). Restricting the ride to vaccinated-only members allows us the freedom to ride closely together, talk while we ride, and form pacelines. You'll still need a mask for the times when we are around the general public.
We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time, you may have to chase, possibly all the way to Inverness Park.

A pleasant moderately-paced century, starting from my new house in Sebastopol (plenty of parking) over the hills from Sonoma county to Napa county.
Only one major climb, which is over by Mile 25; followed by a few minor climbs, and some gently rolling hills.
Lunch in St. Helena at mile 45; afternoon pick-me-up, around Mile 80. at either Russian River Brewing, or Barley and Bine Beer Cafe, both in Windsor.
Be prepared for hot weather - I'd recommend 2 large water bottles.
Full disclosure - I've never been to Barley and Bine Beer Cafe but it looks interesting from the website, and might be a nice change of pace.

The growth of Ebikes is very impressive, here in California and around the world.
There are Ebikes for road rides, mountain bikes, commuting, and shopping. Why they have become so popular, what they can do, and why you might just want one! Whether you want to make it easier to carry children or groceries, or to help you climb the hills that you used to enjoy, there may be an Ebike in your future.
Our featured guest is Brett Thurber who is the owner of New Wheels, an Ebike dealer in San Francisco and Larkspur. Learn about the various types of Ebikes currently available.
Check out this excellent YouTube video sharing New Wheel’s history, mission and enthusiasm for Ebikes. GPC member Richard Hintz brought to my attention a recent Wall Street Journal article (https://tinyurl.com/pdruj68z) providing a guide to purchasing an Ebike. Thanks Richard!

If you want to make the ride easier you can skip the Diablo climb after lunch and work your way back on the Iron Horse Trail. Navigation for that option is up to you.

Approximately 3,400 feet of climbing; just something made up with help of locals. Pre-registration is option but would like a general idea how many may show. See the route on RideWithGPS.

Familiar roads, but with bonus climbing! Warm-up on Arlington from Berkeley to Richmond. Small wall #1: Back side of Hasford Heights (Hillcrest). #2: The utterly gratuitous Amend Rd (or skip it, and use Olinda). Out Castro Ranch to Mama Bear. Small wall #3: Happy Valley. Then we re-group and decide bravely to tackle Toyonal/Lomas Cantadas, or we chicken out and return via Wildcat. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/34905590

Lunch will be at Lucky Three Seven, a Filipino joint on Fruitvale at mile 20.4, so please bring enough fuel and fluids to sustain you until then. We will wend our way back to Rockridge via my tried-and-true commuter routes.

Please join us for this hilly ride which is really only a 4.6, and not even that if you consider Pinehurst as just a warm-up for a nasty pothole-ridden descent on Old Tunnel Rd.
The golf course was named Willow Park, but is now Redwood Canyon. It has restrooms, water and a limited kitchen. I’m packing my lunch.
Please pre-register.
Rain cancels! You can also join our web forum and check the forum archives for the current information or contact Mark Sapiro at (415) 388-8910.

Heather Farm, Morgan Territory, Diablo Junction
Start Location:
Walnut Creek - Heather Farm
Pre-registration closed. You can sign in at the start.
Meet in the penultimate northern parking lot of Heather Farm in Walnut Creek (by the baseball fields) for this ride to Clayton, Morgan Territory, and Diablo Junction. Lunch will be at Draeger's Market in Blackhawk Plaza.
Note that Heather Farm is about a mile from Pleasant Hill BART, which is probably the preferred way to get there. The ride is about 60 miles. If you want to make the ride easier you can skip the Diablo climb after lunch and work your way back on the Iron Horse Trail. Navigation for that option is up to you.
Start Location:
Berkeley - Spruce & Grizzly Peak Blvd - Plaza

Distance: 10-15 miles
Elevation: 1,000 - 1,500 feet elevation gain

Please join us for this weekly Thursday evening ride. A fast, friendly ride with regroups for strong TM riders. Up Spruce and out Grizzly Peak and Skyline, then down Shepherd Canyon and back to N. Berkeley BART. As the days get longer we’ll add the (optional) out-and-back to Chabot Space and Science Center before heading down Shepherd Canyon. Please bring lights for the return trip. See the route on RideWithGPS.
Traveling in small or large groups, with or without your own bike, point to point or based in one location all have their own advantages. Come along and enjoy some pics and discussion with club member Mike Gill from 3 European bike trips, each in a little different location and with different logistics.
Join the fun on Thursday June 24 from 7-7.30pm.

Healdsburg - City Hall
Pre-registration
I have not been riding a lot so just taking it easy and enjoying the ride. Start at City of Healdsburg building, 401 Grove St., Healdsburg. Ride through Sebastopol, Occidental, Monte Rio, etc. Four regroups with water; bathrooms mile 10; Wild Flour Bread Bakery (Dessert) mile 30; Lightwave Coffee and Kitchen (Lunch) mile 40 ish; bathroom mile 53 ish. Mask requirement unknown so be prepared in case at both locations. Can be a long line a bakery also. Some sort of busy roads in country to cross. River Road along Russian River can be busy at times.
