Come Ride With Us

Welcome! Grizzly Peak Cyclists is a bicycle club of about 850 members based in Berkeley, California.

We have club rides every weekend throughout the year, and many weekdays too. Roughly half our rides are in the East Bay; the rest are all over the San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond. Our ride calendar is available on this website. Our members' riding interests run the gamut. We have novices, intermediates, advanceds, and everything in between. Our rides are correspondingly diverse.

Come ride with us. Each ride is rated to indicate the expected terrain, pace, and distance, so you can choose a ride suited to your abilities. Be sure to review our rider guidelines before your first ride to avoid any surprises. You do not have to be a member to attend our rides, but if you're ready, you can join now!

We have hosted the annual Grizzly Peak Century since 1975. The event is known for its challenging but beautiful terrain and gourmet home-made food. For more information, click on the button above to see our century website.

Every year, we make significant donations out of the proceeds raised from our Grizzly Peak Century to organizations and causes that promote or help bicycling in some way — be it advocacy, safety, education, awareness, or the bicycling environment. See our donations page for details.

GPC Holiday Party -- Please Preregister!

The Holidays are approaching! We’ll have the upstairs of our venue (no elevator) to ourselves. There will be bar food (sliders, tacos, etc.), but we hope to space it out to reduce lines. One drink is included. Throughout the evening we’ll pick names out of a hat for fun prizes. There will probably be a great presentation on events that happened this year, contests, and more. Members are free, and non-member guests are only $10. We have a limit of 120 people. Sign up early to be sure to get a spot. Get full details and sign up here.

Nothing says Holiday cheer like home-made cookies and other goodies. We've worked out with the venue that we can supply our own desserts! If you're a skilled goodie- maker, feel free to share some Holiday magic with your cycling buddies.

We're going to need a tiny (small number, not elves) handful of helpers, doing things like handing out name tags and judging contests. If you can help, let us know.

Mountain Hardwear access Dec 5 - Dec 28

In addition to other benefits listed on our website, GPC members have access to the Mountain Hardwear / Columbia Sportswear Employee Stores in Point Richmond and Union City during 3 specific time periods per year. Here is the invitation for GPC members to shop at the store between Dec 5 and Dec 28. The store has sportswear and outdoor equipment from the Columbia Sportswear Company family (Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, SOREL, and prAna) at deeply reduced prices.

You will need to provide the invitation (either a printed copy or a digital copy on your mobile device) AND a copy of your current GPC membership card AND and personal photo ID to gain entry to the store. If you don't have a copy of your membership card handy, you can get your card here.

Each GPC member can bring up to 4 guests each time you shop during the invitation period. See the invitation for the store hours, address, and other details.

Register your Bikes!

Register all of your bikes for free at Bike Index. It's a non-profit national database that is effective and easy to use. In its simplest form you just need your email address and the serial number for your bike. For better results you can add details about the bike, including photos. If your bike is stolen, return to Bike Index and report it.

Please don't ever buy a used bike without first checking the serial number on Bike Index. If it is listed as stolen, you can provide information to assist in the recovery.
