GPC Route: Marinwood Bolinas loop CCW
Start Location: San Rafael - Marinwood Community Center
Optional pre-registration for members

This week we will ride a big loop starting at Miller Creek and going through Pt. Reyes Station (snack), Bear Valley, Olema, and Bolinas, where we stop for lunch. Then it is up the climb of BoFax Road, down to Alpine Dam, and into Fairfax. Finish with the short steep climb over Fawn Drive. A bit shorter than our usual rides, but with enough hilliness to make up for it.

There is often a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Faster riders should feel free to push on after lunch. Just tell the leader first.

A gravel or at least a gravel-adjacent bike is required; gentle gearing is recommended. Rest-stop at Fournée in Berkeley and potential final stop for beer at Ghost Town.

As said before, this is a little longer, but there is less climbing. RWGPS says that the elevation is 1,067, but add about 500 for RSR.

This is a scenic, mixed-terrain tour of the East Bay steeps. Starting at Lake Merritt, we loop through Piedmont, Claremont, Montclair and the rest of the Oakland hills on road, with off-road detours through 'Dirt Tunnel', Joaquin Miller and Leona Heights. For the hillclimbers amongst you, we go in search of steep grades and less-trafficked streets, clearing over 6,000 feet of gain in forty miles. A gravel or at least a gravel-adjacent bike is required; gentle gearing is recommended. Rest-stop at Fournée in Berkeley and potential final stop for beer at Ghost Town.

We’ll end at MJ’s house for a celebration in her backyard, which is not reflected on the route, but we will lead you there if you join us for the post-ride party! As said before, this is a little longer, but there is less climbing. RWGPS says that the elevation is 1,067, but add about 500 for RSR.
