This ride is mostly flat and mostly on bike paths for those of us looking for something a bit more relaxed after a weekend of riding. Ends at headlands brewing for food and drink. There may be a contingent headed south afterwards so you shouldn't have to ride back to Emeryville alone. Strava Route. Bring lights, especially for the ride back.

Join us for a chill T-pace version of the traditional Thursday evening road ride! We'll go up Spruce to Grizzly Peak and Skyline, then turn right to head down Shepherd's Canyon and ride back through Montclair and via the Lake Temescal bike path. For those unfamiliar with the route, the first 7 miles are climbing and then the rest of the ride is mostly flat or downhill. Lights and a light jacket/windbreaker are strongly recommended, especially since the ride finishes around sunset.
The route does include a steep (13%) 2-block stretch (Roanoke Rd.) toward the end, but riders can avoid it if needed.
We will have multiple regroups and will stick to a T pace (10-12 mph). This ride is a no-drop ride and we welcome folks new to the club!
*Note that leaders rotate weekly, and we will try to always have two leaders at each ride.

GPC Route: Nicasio to Drakes Beach
Start Location: Nicasio
Pre-registration
UPDATE: This is now recognized as one of OUR favorite rides with the addition of the fabulous MJ as co-leader! We'll still roll from a Nicasio start to Platform Bridge and Olema Hill, then Bear Valley and Sir Francis Drake out to the beach. Return through Pt Reyes Station. Bring water, lunch and/or snacks, and don't forget your windbreaker. Current forecast says patchy fog will clear and then mostly sunny -- fingers crossed! Expect some nice rolling climbs in the park, and 3 significant hills -- Olema, the climb to the park after we roll through Inverness, and then the short steep climb back up from Drake's Beach. Water and bathrooms available at Drake's Beach, and the park gift store offers both hot and cold drinks. Rating has now been expanded to encompass both T and TM paces, and anyway it's hard to get lost on this ride. Optional start in Marinwood by 8:45 for those that want 20 more miles, and optional start at Bear Valley Visitor Center for those that wish to reduce the mileage to 38 -- please let the leader know if you're choosing either option so we know to look for you. Meet in Nicasio at 9:30, roll at 9:45.

Meet at the Golden Gate Panhandle Restrooms, just west of Ashbury St along the panhandle mult-iuser path. Here is the route we like from Civic Ctr BART to the ride start: Exit BART using the UN-Plaza escalator to the start of this route < https://ridewithgps.com/routes/16292705 >
The San Francisco Parks department has turned JFK through Golden Gate Park into the JFK Promenade, featuring art work, gathering places and various activities. It is car free to Transverse Drive. The Great Highway from Lincoln to Sloat is now the Sunset Dunes Park, with art works, various play structures, hammocks, and even a piano with its own garage. We like to ride through these areas, and watch people having fun. From there our route nicks a corner of Lake Merced (restroom) and then east on residential streets, including Saint Francis Woods. From there we ride a short distance on Portola to the wind assisted ascent of Twin Peaks, a significant natural area in San Francisco. The east side of the Twin Peaks Figure 8 and the top half of Twin Peaks Blvd have retained their car free status since the great Covid Closures.
The route is here:< https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51044314 >
Bring Snacks
The weather forecast is standard for SF: Hi of 65 and windy at the meeting place. Cooler at the beach. and then warming up as we head east to Twin Peaks. Dress in layers--warm enough to have fun on this ride.

Start Location: Pleasanton - Neal & Railroad Ave

With over 4000' of climbing from its base, panoramic views of the south bay and the hidden valleys of the Diablo range, historic observatory buildings at its summit, and passage through a number of distinctive plant communities, the Mt Hamilton loop is one of the fabled rides of the Bay Area.
The route: out Calaveras; up the frontside of Mt Hamilton; down the backside; San Antonio Valley and Mines Rd; return via the Livermore valley suburban/agricultural interface. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44978477.
Meet 07:00 ready to ride. Ready to ride means your bike is set up, you already went to the restroom, you're clicked in, and you're ready to pay attention and listen to ride announcements :^) The early start is to make the most of the cool part of the day and to get to Junction Cafe well before it closes at 3:00pm.
Public restrooms are available in the park one block south of the meeting place.
Refreshment stops at: 1. San Jose (Rotten Robbie gas station at Piedmont & Sierra Rds); 2. Mt Hamilton Observatory Visitor Center (vending machines, cash only); 3. Junction Cafe.
Much of the route is on very remote roads. Please bring: front and rear lights (just in case); ample food/fuel (just in case); your bike in excellent mechanical condition; ample clothing in layers; cash (see above); and a happy smile! This should not be your first century nor your first self-supported long ride.
Pace: I plan to ride at a solid TM pace. Faster riders are welcome but may need to self-organize.
Carpooling is encouraged. Contact Mark if you need a ride there or if you can offer one. BART starts too late so it is not an option.

Ride the San Mateo coast from Pescadero past Pigeon Point lighthouse and Ano Nuevo State Park to Swanton's Berry Farm just north of Davenport—lunch at their picnic tables on the lawn overlooking the Coast. Vegan Soup is the only meal option, but check the Farmstand website for specialties. https://www.swantonberryfarm.com. Then back for a little climb up Swanton Rd and north on Rt. 1 to Gazos Creek. There we'll detour inland on beautiful back roads, returning to Pescadero.
Parking is at the corner of Pescadero Creek Road and Stage Road, adjacent to the Post Office, where there are two portable restrooms. Other restrooms may be available at Arcangeli Grocery, about a block up Stage Street. They have picnic tables in the back, next to a creek, with porta-potties and hand-washing stations. The market there will be open on our return for baked goods.
Will update Coast weather forecast on Monday.

This weekly ride often tours through West Marin, but sometimes travels to Napa, Sonoma, or Livermore, depending on the season.

Individual Time Trial
Come test your fitness level and get in a great workout by riding the Bears Loop as a time trial. In the ITT, each person rides at his/her own pace (no drafting) to see how fast the Bears Loop can be completed. It’s a great format for pushing yourself to see how fast you can ride the loop.
Pace Group Ride
Ride the Bears Loop at your normal pace to use it to determine your GPC pace (https://www.grizz.org/rides/ratings.php). Or use this ride to practice your pace for an upcoming event.
The first rider is off at 10:01 and a rider a minute after that. For the GPC Pace ride, a pace group can start together, or each rider can rider on their own as the ITT riders do. (Regardless of the format, each rider is timed individually.)
Rider finishing times are usually shared in the ride report email to the club. While it is nice to see what times folks ride, reporting of rider times is optional. Also, the ITT is open to both members and non-members; no need to join as in the past.

Water and bathrooms available at Drake's Beach, and the park gift store offers both hot and cold drinks. Rating has now been expanded to encompass both T and TM paces, and anyway it's hard to get lost on this ride.

With over 4000' of climbing from its base, panoramic views of the south bay and the hidden valleys of the Diablo range, historic observatory buildings at its summit, and passage through a number of distinctive plant communities, the Mt Hamilton loop is one of the fabled rides of the Bay Area.

GPC Route:
Marinwood to Petaluma via Spring Hill
Start Location:
San Rafael - Marinwood Community Center
Pre-registration
From Miller Creek we'll ride through Nicasio, Hick's Valley, and Chileno Valley. Then into Petaluma on the beautifully paved Spring Hill Road for lunch at Ray's Deli & Tavern (mile 42). Return via Red Hill.
Shorten the ride to 49 miles by meeting us in Nicasio, probably about 10:20.
There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Arrive by the meeting time if you don't want to chase.

We'll start this ride a little earlier, since we're starting in San Francisco and doing 10 more miles than usual. You have options. You can just do Paradise Loop (more like an acute arc) from Embarcadero to Richmond BART. (Will more than likely get another ride leader to accommodate those who choose this.) If you opt to do Angel Island, please see the Angel Island Ferry for details, and plan to be on the 1pm ferry from Tiburon; we return on the 2:20pm ferry from Angel Island back to Tiburon. All of us will get lunch at Woodland's at around 12pm.
Meet at the Embarcadero at 8:45. We'll leave at 9:00. All Daly City-SFO-bound trains should arrive at Embarcadero between 8:36 and 8:49. Roll at 9:00.

GPC Route:
Pescadero to Swanton's Berry Farm
Start Location:
Pescadero
Pre-registration

El Cerrito Plaza BART

The classic route RWGPS, but with the start moved to El Cerrito Plaza. Bring warm layers and bright lights to see by. The majority of the dirt sections are up hill or flat, but expect some short bumpy descents in the dark. I'm hoping mud shouldn't be too bad with over a week to dry out, but I will make changes in case of rain. 35mm+ tires recommended.

This weekly ride often tours through West Marin, but sometimes travels to Napa, Sonoma, or Livermore, depending on the season. Status updates for weather cancellations will also be posted on the schedule.
There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Faster riders should feel free to push on after lunch. Just tell the leader first.

Bears Loop
Start Location:
Orinda - San Pablo Dam Rd and Bear Creek Rd
Pre-registration
