Meet at 5:30 pm for a 5:35 pm start
Start Location: Berkeley - Spruce & Grizzly Peak Blvd - Plaza
Join us for a weekly Tuesday evening ride. This is a short ride but with a steep climb! We'll head out along Wildcat Canyon to South Park Rd. From there, we'll climb to the top of South Park once or twice (e.g. we’ll climb S. Park, descend and climb again if the mood strikes us). Cyclists of different paces are very welcome to join. South Park is closed to car traffic, which makes it perfect for winter riding. If we complete 2 round trip ascents up South Park, expect ~10 miles and about 1,800 feet of elevation gain.
NOTE: it will be dark by 5:30 in mid Nov, so this ride is mostly in dark. Come with bright front and rear lights (and make sure they work). 20% chance or greater of rain cancels ride. Please contact ride leaders if there's unfavorable weather.
https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/2742955390 (this route shows 3 ascents up South Park, we’ll only do 1-2 ascents. Thanks to Nick Umemoto for the route and inspiration!)
Ride will follow GPC Covid-19 protocol, including mandatory pre-registration for members. Please wear face coverings at the start/end and during all regroups.

GPC Route: Old La Honda Tunitas Creek Loop
Start Location: Woodside Town Hall
Inspired by our Few Epic Climbs Series*, we're taking on this classic Peninsula loop, featuring Old La Honda, artichoke bread, sweeping views of the coast from CA-1, the Bike Hut, and Tunitas Creek, with breathtaking descents in between.
Lunch and restrooms at Mile 25, and then a quick stop for restrooms again at Mile 36 before our big climb. Bring layers and maybe lights; Tunitas can be pretty dimly lit, even midday.
Average moving speed will likely be ~11 mph, given all the climbing. We'll have many regroups to stick together. COVID-19 guidelines will be enforced! Don't forget your buff or mask. If you need to contact the leader on the day of the ride, please call or text (not email).

Speaker Series: Bright Ideas For Bicycle Safety: A Guide to Night Riding
Whether you are new to the sport or have thousands of hours of saddle time, all cyclists want to ride safely and reduce the risk of injury. The questions are what are best practices and how can I learn?
Our members voted to kick off the Safety Series with a webinar to share best practices about Riding After Dark. Biking after dark can be fun, but is important to plan ahead and make sure you always have the right equipment and techniques to be visible every time you get on your bike. Bike East Bay’s award winning education program is being extended to GPC on Thursday, January 28 at 7pm.

60 minutes, C pace, average 22mph (2.2 w/kg). In this fun social event, everyone stays together with strong sweep support to help those at the back stay in the group. Knights of Suburbia is an Australia-based group that mostly rides outdoors and focuses on promoting mental wellbeing. In our Zwift rides, we work hard to create a positive atmosphere and foster support for mental wellness so everyone enjoys a "happy hour" on the bike.

Old La Honda Tunitas Creek Loop
Start Location:
Woodside Town Hall
