From Steam trains we'll drop on the road via GP and Fish Ranch to Sibley where we'll enjoy the wild flowers and vistas before taking a circuitous route back to CCB via trails near Pinehurst.

Lunch at CCB post ride. This ride will be fewer people due to Spring Break so please come and adventure with us!

SUN APR 3 3!/TM/60 Solvang Five Canyons Loop
Leader: Mark Nienberg     (510) 812-9312    text
Meet at 9:00 am for a 9:15 am start
GPC Route: Solvang Five Canyons
Start Location: Solvang - Royal Copenhagen Inn
Pre-registration

See nearly all that Solvang has to offer in one big loop. See Longhorns, Llamas, Buffalo and Davey Crockett! We will have an elegant lunch in Los Alamos, before tackling the horribly rough Drum Canyon Road, then trying to sneak by Figueroa Mt Brewing Company before arriving back at the start.

A cheerful adventurous attitude is encouraged. Strong navigation skills or riding with a buddy who knows the route can be very helpful. Print your own cue sheet if needed. Please sign in online if you would like the leader to keep some track of you; there may not be a paper sign in sheet at the ride start. Two full water bottles and some nutrition make good sense. The standards listed in the Rider Guidelines on our website always apply.

GPC Route: Solvang Four Canyons Loop

See the best of Solvang and get to lunch quicker. Miss the roughest climb that I have ever done, Cat Canyon. After lunch, we tackle the second roughest road in the area. The even shorter ride possibility is to turn around at Fess Parker Winery, and return nearly the same way (26 miles).

MON APR 4 3/T,TM/28-53-77 The Whole Jalama, Just Jalama, and the 3/4 Jalama
Leader: Brian Aldrich     (510) 693-0603    text
Leader: Mark Nienberg     (510) 812-9312    text
Meet at 9:00 am for a 9:15 am start
GPC Route: 3/4 Jalama
Start Location: Solvang - Royal Copenhagen Inn
Pre-registration

This will be the Jalama Beach Day. Options include the Whole Jalama, the 3/4 Jalama, Just Jalama, and an Out and Back on Santa Rosa Road. Santa Rosa Road is quite nice, and is featured on the movie "Sideways". The Jalama Beach Cafe is famous for its burger. Note: we have found the burger too big to eat alone, there are lighter options, and the picnic area is casual, you can bring your own food. So Just Jalama Beach road is 28 miles, the 3/4 Jalama can be done if you carpool to the start of Jalama Beach road then ride back to Solvang once you've done Jalama Beach. The Whole Jalama is the hotel to the Cafe and back, 77 miles. Your two likely ride leaders, Brian and Mark, will probably do the 3/4 Jalama.

We have many cue sheets, routes and possibilities, you are welcome to extend, shorten, or lead an additional ride in competition with this ride. For this route you need an especially cheerful attitude, and good route finding skills although there are few turns. GPC Route: Pozo Loop

Note the later start time since we will be driving to get to the start. Accessed on our travel day between Solvang and Paso Robles, Pozo Loop offers up stunning scenery! There is good parking at the Community Park. Bring two full water bottles, as the water at the Ranger Station still said non potable. We will watch the temperatures, we just did this ride and it was too hot (80 in town, 96 on bike). We generally eat at "The Porch" restaurant in town after the ride.

A cheerful adventurous attitude is encouraged. Strong navigation skills or riding with a buddy who knows the route can be very helpful. Print your own cue sheet if needed. Please sign in online if you would like the leader to keep some track of you; there will not be a paper sign in sheet at the ride start. Two full water bottles and some nutrition makes good sense. Leader: Brian Aldrich     (510) 693-0603    text
Meet at 9:00 am for a 9:15 am start
GPC Route: Tour de Paso via Adelaida
Start Location: Adelaide Inn, Paso Robles
Pre-registration
UPDATE:

Update: meet at 8:30 am next to the pool at the Adelaide Inn.

I have edited last years ride to make it a little shorter, and with a less steep start. This route does an Adelaida Road start as opposed to a Peachy, and cuts several miles on the East Side. A great tour of most all of the local roads. A great ride up Adelaida Road, across on Vineyard, and down the extremely smooth Willow descent and across Vineyard to the East Side, which offers a lot of rolling hills, farms, and great scenery. Lunch could be had back in Paso around the Town Square. I'd recommend Pappy McGregor's.

Two full water bottles and some nutrition makes good sense. The standards listed in the Rider Guidelines on our website always apply.

Meet at 9:00 am for a 9:15 am start
GPC Route: Parkfield Earthquake Ride
Start Location: Mission San Miguel Arcángel
Pre-registration
UPDATE:

Update: Meet at 8:45 am at the start location in San Miguel.

Meet at 9:00 in front of the pool at the Adelaide Inn, 1215 Ysabel Street, so that we can drive to San Miguel to start the ride. In San Miquel we will park on Mission Street, across the street from the San Miguel Arcángel Mission. Do not park alongside the mission, that area is important to those religious devotees who want to walk around and worship the mission. The presiding priest of this Mission has requested this of us. He offered us even better parking, blessings and all, but it got way too complicated. This is a really cool ride into a very remote area, crossing the San Andreas Fault to an iconic western town with lunch at a rustic western café. I would say that you need a cheerful attitude and good navigation skills, but there is only one road, but I might as well say it anyway, so consider it said, this area is remote, and very cool, and don't be scared! This ride is a favorite with many other clubs. If you plan on joining us, please let us know in advance, you should attend the happy hour / route planning meeting the night before, or check in with us, so that you are aware of any changes to the route, start time or start location. 30% PoP may cancel.

SUN APR 17 3/T/42 Mines Road and San Antonio Valley out and back
Leader: Steve Tracy     (510) 881-6042    text
Meet at 10:00 am for a 10:15 am start
Pre-registration

40+ miles without a stop sign. Wildflowers & critters. Food & drink at the Junction cafe. That is how Mines road made my top 3 in the bay area.

We will start at milepost 8.8 up from Intersection with Del Valle to make riding to the end of San Antonio Valley more accessible. There is room there for 5 or 6 cars and area is safe / visible (people entering 3 driveways nearby).
This option bypasses the first (biggest) hill; shortens mileage to 42 and elevation to about 3k. Out and back, planning to stop at the cafe mile 26 on the way back but it is available at mile 16 on the way out.

Note the rwgps route below is from intersection with Del Valle out to the turn at end of flattish SA Valley. Leaderless option for this route is to start at beginning of Mines Rd (start id 46) providing entire 59 miles and 4.2k elevation; plenty of parking there. Join us at the cafe or along the way; RSVP

3/4 Jalama
Start Location:
Solvang - Royal Copenhagen Inn

We have many cue sheets, routes and possibilities, you are welcome to extend, shorten, or lead an additional ride in competition with this ride. For this route you need an especially cheerful attitude, and good route finding skills although there are few turns.

Two full water bottles and some nutrition makes good sense. The standards listed in the Rider Guidelines on our website always apply.
