GPC Route: Bear Valley to Drakes Beach
Start Location: Point Reyes Bear Valley Visitor Center
Pre-registration
Wednesday may be warm. I am planning to ride to Drakes Beach for lunch and back to the Visitor Center. (Bring a lunch or pick something up at Inverness Park or at the store in Inverness.)
The Historic Life-Saving Service and G Ranch Cemetery is along the way at the tip of Drakes Estero.
Some intrepid riders will want to skip Drakes and go to Chimney Rock or the lighthouse or visit all three. It's about a 6 mile difference. This links to lighthouse cue sheet. We will sort out who is riding where at the ride start.
Please pre-register.
Rain cancels. You can also join our web forum and check the forum archives for the current information or contact Mark Sapiro at (415) 388-8910.

Great Bolinas Ridge Rambler from MCBC's Dirt Fondo last year. 44 miles with 5500 feet of elevation. This was one of my favorite rides last summer. It features a newer trail called Bills Trail, created in 2020.
Bolinas Ridge is not hard technically speaking, but does have washboard for >1 mile so I prefer some suspension on this ride but a gravel bike will suffice. We'll have post ride eats in Fairfax which is a great way to enjoy a Saturday.

This ride is "RAINED OUT" (regardless of the actual weather) and re-scheduled to May 22.
Familiar roads, but with bonus climbing! Warm-up on Arlington from Berkeley to Richmond. Small wall #1: Back side of Hasford Heights (Hillcrest). #2: The utterly gratuitous Amend Rd (or skip it, and use Olinda). Out Castro Ranch to Mama Bear. Small wall #3: Happy Valley. Then we re-group and decide bravely to tackle Toyonal/Lomas Cantadas, or the less intimidating Toyonal/Wildcat.

Meet at 9:30 am
GPC Route: Heather Farm, Morgan Territory, Diablo Junction
Start Location: Walnut Creek - Heather Farm
Pre-registration
Let's avoid Marin today as the last of this cold weather moves through. It should be warmer in the East Bay.
Meet in the penultimate northern parking lot of Heather Farm in Walnut Creek (by the baseball fields) for this ride to Clayton, Morgan Territory, and Diablo Junction. Lunch will be at Draeger's Market in Blackhawk Plaza.
Note that Heather Farm is about a mile from Pleasant Hill BART, which is probably the preferred way to get there. If you want to make the ride easier you can skip the Diablo climb after lunch and work your way back on the Iron Horse Trail. Navigation for that option is simple, but up to you.
We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time you may have to chase. You can probably catch us at the park in Clayton, where we will have a brief stop.

Best route in Yosemite. Wapama falls are at high volume this month
start location is Yosemite Ridge Resort, 7589 State Highway 120 Groveland, CA, 95321
address is trechnically in Groveland but actual start is in Buck Meadows, 11 miles east on hwy 120
mostly very good surfaces except on Evergreen and Hardin Flat roads but they are still very enjoyable if you're careful. The climbs are not steep on this route, except on Hardin "Flat", but Hardin parallels hwy 120 and is avoidable if desired. the first mile of Cherry Creek road is 7-9% also We'll ride a total of 9 miles on highway 120, which has a decent shoulder and mostly light traffic, but it also has a rumble strip. A mirror is very helpful there imo.
lots of variety of scenery and terrain, lots of creeks and clear rivers and water falls this time of year. All the water is the main attraction on this route, and the great roads of course
The drive is against traffic in both directions (on weekdays), and was super smooth when I drove it last week.
bikes are charged $20 to enter the park but If you have a pass, you can bring 3 riders in with you.
also, Ride w/GPS seems to over estimate the amount of climbing by about 10%,
Buck Meadows is a small town and parking is somewhat limited. . Yosemite Ridge Resort charges $15 per day, and there are spaces along side highway 120 in the grass.. might have to get creative

hello bears et al,
Anne came up with the idea of a birthday ride for me, so let's go north to Benicia in celebration of my 79th. All are welcome, and there are no age limits. We will follow the usual path along the bay up to the Zampa bridge returning to Maritinez over the Benicia bridge and then home. Details are on the map below, but there will be some options for the last segment depending on how your legs feel. Also there will be a lunch stop in Benicia, place to be determined.
Any questions, do email or call me. Hope to see you at N Berkeley Bart Sunday at 9.

But wait ... Meet at Spruce and Grizzly at 9:30 for a decide and-ride. Martinez or something. Or meet 15 minutes later at bottom of Wildcat.
From Miller Creek we'll ride through Nicasio, the Cheese Factory, Chileno Valley to Petaluma for lunch at Ray's Deli & Tavern. Return via Red Hill.
Shorten the ride to 49 miles by meeting us in Nicasio, probably about 10:20.
We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready to go. If you arrive after the meeting time, you can probably chase us down in Nicasio. Please pre-register if you can.
