Meet at 8:45 am for a 9:00 am start
Start Location: North Berkeley BART
Pre-registration
This month we are trying out Johnny's Doughnuts at Larkspur Landing. There is also a popular Farmers Market (with fantastic pastries from Rustic Bakery) in the same mall which you can explore. We will ride our bikes over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, and enjoy a warm donut or pastry.
We welcome new riders! A large portion of the route is on dedicated bike path, but please be cautious going over train tracks in Richmond. We will have a bathroom and water stop at Richmond Marina Park about 6 miles in.
Leader: Elizabeth Crocker (510) 484-1060

Now that the inland temperatures have cooled, Norm and I are riding the Sunol/Palomares loop from our house on Saturday and hope you will join us. We are meeting at the Firehouse, on the corner of Colton and Skyline, at 9:30 for a 9:35 roll, and at Redwood and Skyline at 9:55 for a 10:00 roll.

The GPS Link is Palomares Loop, and the total mileage is approximately 73 miles from the Firehouse at Skyline and Colton.

Sincerely,

GPC Route: Carquinez Loop Clockwise via Bay Trail
Start Location: Pinole Valley Park
Pre-registration
Meet at 10 for 10:15 departure. We'll follow the route that uses the Bay Trail through Hercules to avoid some of the busy, hilly riding on San Pablo Ave. Lunch in downtown Martinez in the plaza next to Starbucks. Bring your lunch or buy it there. Return via Alhambra Valley, over Pig Farm hill, and Pinole Valley. Print your own cue sheet if you want one. It will be cool at the start and along the bay, but the forecast is for mid-70's at Martinez. We can hope for some sun.
PLEASE Pre-register. It makes check-in much easier. If you are bringing a buddy who is not a member, you can pre-register them, and that is especially helpful

A delightful tour of west Marin. For the 81 mile version, we ride from Marinwood via Nicasio and Chileno Valley to lunch at Tomales. Return down the coast and through the redwoods in Samuel P Taylor with a second food/drink stop at Lagunitas. You can shorten it to 73 miles by skipping the Samuel P Taylor leg, but why would you want to do that? :-) For the 61 mile version, meet us in Nicasio -- be there, ready to ride, by 9:15. GPC Route: Half Moon Bay - Gazos Creek - Tunitas Creek Variations
Start Location: Half Moon Bay - Fire Station
Pre-registration
Start off with the traditional and wonderfully scenic 20-mile roll down Hwy 1 for coastal views and a short visit to Pigeon Point Lighthouse, then a short sprint further south to Gazos Creek Road. Wax poetic on the gentle, lesser traveled spur up to South Fork Gazos Creek Road before rejoining Gazos Creek/Cloverdale Road to Pescadero to share a picnic lunch in the back yard of Norm's Market ("world famous" artichoke bread, sandwiches, pastries, coffees). Bucolic vistas meet nicely patched pavement along the pleasant but arduous climb up the old Stage Road with a (rolling) regroup in San Gregorio, continuing on Stage Road northward to Hwy 1. A quick and breezy descent along the highway to Tunitas Creek Road, regroup/refreshments at the Bike Hut and then up the flats and early climbs on Tunitas Creek Road until Lobitos Creek Road before cutting back toward the coast, sticking to back roads (Verde, Purisma Creek, and a final short, celebratory, leg-burning ascent up Higgins Canyon Road) with just enough rolling and flat miles on the home stretch back to Half Moon Bay to work out the lactic acid.
There are multiple ways to shorten this ride if you're looking for fewer miles/less climbing. We can discuss!
In case you've never been on one of my birthday rides before - I always bring cupcakes for the after party, and you will earn your treat for sure after this beautiful day of riding on the coast! I'll look forward to celebrating with you - please RSVP in advance if possible so I can get a cupcake headcount.

Half Moon Bay - Gazos Creek - Tunitas Creek Variations
Start Location:
Half Moon Bay - Fire Station

Start Location:
Nicasio
Pre-registration
We'll ride from Nicasio to Valley Ford for lunch via Chileno Valley and Middle Road. Return to Tomales via Franklin School to Middle Road, avoiding the steep climb on Franklin. We may or may not go into Pt Reyes Station on the way back, depending on rider interest. Route on RideWithGPS
There is often a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Faster riders should feel free to push on after lunch. Just tell the leader first. We will start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time, you may have to chase.

Come out and enjoy the long summer days! We hope you will join us for a chill T-pace version of the traditional Thursday evening road ride! We'll go up Spruce to Grizzly Peak and Skyline, then turn right to head down Shepherd's Canyon and ride back through Montclair and via the Lake Temescal bike path. Lights and a jacket are recommended.
The route does include a steep (13%) 2-block section toward the end, but it's easy to avoid if anyone prefers.
