Meet at 5:20 pm for a 5:30 pm start
Start Location: North Berkeley BART
Pre-registration
(Note that Mark Bauer is the new co-leader for this ride!) Please join us for a weekly Thursday evening ride. This is a short ride but with a steep climb! We’ll head up Virginia St and Spruce to Spruce/Grizzly Peak for our first regroup, then head out along Wildcat Canyon to South Park Rd. From there, we'll climb to the top of South Park once or twice (e.g. we’ll climb S. Park, descend and climb again if the mood strikes us). South Park is closed to cars, which makes it perfect for winter riding. If we complete 2 round trip ascents up South Park then back to N Berkeley Bart, expect about 2,300 feet of elevation gain. This is a great way to stay in shape over the winter!
NOTE: This is a night ride. Come with bright front and rear lights (and make sure they work). 20% chance or greater of rain cancels the ride. Please contact ride leaders with any questions.

Sign up for that ride in the other listing. I'll be starting from Miller Creek at about 9:25 if you would like to join me. - Mark
This weekly ride often tours through West Marin, but sometimes travels to Napa, Sonoma, or Livermore, depending on the season. We have frequent regroups and usually stop for a real lunch, if it is available on the route. This listing will be updated when the route and leader have been determined, usually by Monday evening. Status updates for weather cancellations will also be posted on the schedule.
There is often a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Faster riders should feel free to push on after lunch. Just tell the leader first.

MANDATORY REGISTRATION OPENS WHEN THE FIELD TRIPS ARE POSTED ON Feb 15 AT 9 AM. At that time, go to the permanent field trip link, https://goldengateaudubon.org/field-trips-info/ and navigate to the March 11 Bike and Bird where you will find trip details and a registration link that will be open until the trip fills. 3/17 note: we're on for Mt. Hamilton tomorrow! The visitor center will be open, with bathrooms, vending machines and water available, but no substantial food, so bring your own lunch and snacks. There's been construction on Mt. Hamilton Rd. Road is open with one short section single lane. The weather may be cold at the summit/on the descent, so bring dress accordingly! If you're driving to Berryessa BART, allow extra time to pay for parking in the BART parking lot and bring cash to pay.
Please join us for a ride up "Mt. Hammy"! The hills should be green, the poppies & wild flowers in abundance and good riding in store. We'll meet at Berryessa/N. San Jose BART at 8:45 am, depart at 9:00 am sharp. There's a BART train that arrives at 8:41 am -- don't miss that train since next train arrives at 9:11 am. If you're driving, please leave extra time to park and pay for parking. Our route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/34678507. We'll go through the neighborhoods for about 6 miles, then get on Mt. Hamilton Rd and climb ~ 19 miles and ~4,000 feet to the summit. The observatory and gift shop is open, we'll sit outside for lunch. There's water but no food available at the summit, bring your own food for lunch! After lunch, we'll descend the 25 miles back to the BART station. Mt. Hamilton is quite remote, very beautiful and really worth riding. Hope you'll join! GPC Route: Carquinez Loop Clockwise via Bay Trail
Start Location: Pinole Valley Park
Pre-registration
We are cancelling today's ride due to yesterday's weather. We expect mud and debris are likely. Hoping to reschedule for tomorrow Thursday, March 23. We plan to do some scouting today if weather permits.
For those who need more, Dale is including an up-and-back option of climbing McEwen at Port Costa. We will ask about interest at the ride start. For mortals, we will ride the Bay Trail about 3 miles, then loop around the Rodeo refineries to Crockett and the Carquinez Scenic Drive bike path. Lunch will be in downtown Martinez at the plaza next to Starbucks. Bring your lunch or buy it there. Luigi's Deli is fun. Return via Alhambra Valley, Pig Farm hill, and Pinole Valley. Restrooms are at the ride start. For contrarians, you can enjoy a counterclockwise loop.
Rain is a definite possibility, so be prepared for cancellation. We will confirm by 9:00 am. Check your phone for email or text if you pre-register allowing that option. Otherwise check the website. You can also try calling a ride leader after 9:00 am. We should know what we're in for by then!
Finally, you may want to follow Melissa's good advice and visit Butter Pecan Bakeshop since you're already there! Please pre-register. If you are bringing a non-member, you can pre-register them.

GPC Route: Heather Farm, Morgan Territory, Diablo Junction
Start Location: Walnut Creek - Heather Farm
Pre-registration
If you are planing to skip the Diablo climb after lunch, be aware that Diablo Road will be closed, and plan your flat return accordingly. You can use Camino Tassajara, or you might be able to get through Diablo via Ave Nueva. Navigation for this alternative is up to you.
Meet in the penultimate northern parking lot of Heather Farm in Walnut Creek (by the baseball fields) for this ride to Clayton, Morgan Territory, and Diablo Junction. Lunch will be at Draeger's Market in Blackhawk Plaza.
Note that Heather Farm is about a mile from Pleasant Hill BART, which is probably the preferred way to get there. If you want to make the ride easier you can skip the Diablo climb after lunch and work your way back on the Iron Horse Trail. Navigation for that option is simple, but up to you.
There is often a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. Let's do this altered version of the Fremont Freewheelers' Primavera 100K. This route starts the loop in Dublin instead of Fremont, which means we get Palomares done early while we still have climbing legs - and also gets us in and out of Niles Canyon early (we'll only be on it for ~2 miles).
We'll have a brief stop at Mile 20 at Starbucks in Fremont, at Mile 35 at Ed Levin park in Milpitas, and Mile 49 at the little stand in Sunol off 84. Please be sure to have enough food and water for yourself, and a copy of the cue sheet as well. I'll do my best to keep folks together with rolling regroups, but will also expect a level of self sufficiency on a ride of this distance.
Together we'll enjoy Dublin Canyon, Palomares, Calaveras (including the wall!), and Foothill back to Pleasanton. Come join me and your fellow Grizzlies for a fun day on the bike!
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41696195
After party anyone? If anyone would like to stay awhile and join me for post-ride drinks and tacos, I've found a taqueria less than a mile and a half away with pretty good ratings, counter service, and outdoor seating! It's called Taqueria Azteca and is located at 7155 Amador Plaza Rd, Dublin, CA 94568 I'll be heading there after the ride - hope to see you!

Mandatory pre-registration with max 12 riders
Join Rob and me as we cruise both sides of the Bay checking out wetlands and the myriad birds that go with it. You’ll be sure to see many beautiful blue-billed ruddy ducks and various sandpiper species. We start and end from the big parking lot at Don Edwards (just a wee bit past the smaller lot with the bathrooms). If you’re thinking about taking BART, keep in mind that it takes about 40 minutes from Union City to Don Edwards via Paseo Padre. Check out the route here and bring your bins.

Many of us know some things about ridewithgps, but there's a lot to learn.
Since this is not a ride you don't need to check if your brakes are working, but you will need to have your individual ridewithgps account. (https://ridewithgps.com/signup).
We will show how to
- join the club's account, and the benefits of that,
- create printed routes
- download routes to phones and bike computers
- build routes
- add routes to the club's ridewithgps library
There will be Q&A and a chance for participants to share their ideas.

You can also join our web forum and check the forum archives for the current information or contact Mark Sapiro at (415) 388-8910.

Update for the March 21 ride: The trails are still too muddy right now, so we will do a road ride. Here's the route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42215833. Water and restrooms at Tilden, Mile 9. Also, Anne Gulley will take MJ’s place as co-leader. See you soon!
[RideWithGPS route] The ride has evolved with RTO (Return To Office). With some people going into to the office a few days per week (generally Tuesdays and Thursdays), we are moving this ride to Wednesdays.
Join us for a social mixed terrain ride. We recommend tires wider than 32mm and gearing easier than 1:1. This is a T-pace ride with some steep and rocky climbs. Due to the early sunset, we will keep regroups short. Bright lights and a jacket. Riders are welcome to peel off at any point to get in more riding or head on home. Pictures from past rides: [1][2][3] E-bikes are not allowed on this route's trails.
Meet us at the southeast corner of Cutting Avenue and the Ohlone Greenway [Google Maps street view] We have a hard roll time of 5:35pm.

GPC Route:
Heather Farm, Morgan Territory, Diablo Junction
Start Location:
Walnut Creek - Heather Farm
If you arrive after the meeting time you may have to chase. You can probably catch us at the park in Clayton, where we will have a brief stop.

Come out and enjoy the spring evenings! We hope you will join us for a chill T-pace version of the traditional Thursday evening road ride! We'll go up Spruce to Grizzly Peak and Skyline, then turn right to head down Shepherd's Canyon and ride back through Montclair and via the Lake Temescal bike path. Lights and a jacket are recommended. We will have multiple regroups and stick to a T pace on this ride.
The route does include a steep (13%) 2-block section toward the end, but it's easy to avoid if anyone prefers.

This posting is for the “T” ride version of the Altered Primavera. We will do the exact same route as the TM riders, just at a somewhat more relaxed pace, and hopefully we can all enjoy some food/refreshments together afterwards!
See the TM description below for the route - see you there!

This ride is good for riders who are new to riding mixed terrain, or Gravel Biking. We will work on bike handling on fire roads, gravel, some single track, and various trails along the waterfront. You will need to have tires 32mm or bigger tires. All levels are welcome to join and work on skills riding. The group will stop at several locations on the route to work through some simple terrain obstacles and features.
Miles and smiles, hills and thrills, lunches and lattes. This listing will be updated when the route and leader have been determined, usually by Monday evening. Meet at 10:00 am (usually) for this ride. Rain cancels. You can also join our web forum and check the forum archives for the current information or contact Mark Sapiro at (415) 388-8910.
