The first 7.5 miles all pace groups ride together at a social pace...you'll ride with club members you might not see for the rest of the month. After that, we split into five separate pace groups. The pace groups are named after musical tempi: Largo, Adagio, Andante, Allegretto, and Presto. Click on the tempo for the exact route. SAT MAR 9 1/LT/20 Birding the Alameda Creek-Coyote Hills Regional Park by bicycle

Meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Union City BART station by the ticket machines ready to ride (Leaders plan to be on train arriving at 9:53). We'll cycle about 20 mostly flat miles from Union City BART, along Alameda Creek, and into Coyote Hills Regional Park, looking for ducks and shorebirds, as well as raptors and passerines. Bring binoculars and water, and wear layers. (approximate route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/18593834) Helmets are required.  Bring snacks and lunch - it’s a late lunch and long day with no food available for purchase.  Restrooms are located at the BART station, at a staging area along the creek, and at the Coyote Hills Visitor Center, where we will eat lunch.  This birding ride is co-listed with Golden Gate Audubon, and my co-leader is Cathy Bleier, csbleier@sbcglobal.net. We’ll ride over the Mario Salvio bike and pedestrian bridge, south on the Bay Trail, over the Alex Zuckerman bike path on the Bay Bridge, and down to Treasure Island. We'll loop around the island, lunch at the MerSea Restaurant, and return. (The MerSea does not approve of people bringing their own food.)

We will ride to the Summit of Mt. Figueroa via the east side, which is very remote with one mile of rough dirt and water crossings.  It is less steep then the West side, but has more climbing. On the way north to Paso Robles we will stop in Santa Margarita and do this loop.  As you enter Santa Margarita, you are on El Camino Real, just after town take a right on Hwy 58, cross the train tracks, and you are at the park. Meet at 9:00 in front of the pool at the Adelaide Inn, 1215 Ysabel Street, so that we can drive to San Miguel to start the ride.  In San Miquel we will park on Mission Street, in the dirt parking along the San Miguel Archangel Mission.  This is a really cool ride into a very remote area, crossing the San Andreas Fault to an iconic western town with lunch at a rustic western café.  This ride is a favorite with BAC and other clubs.  I have many cue sheets, routes and possibilities, you are welcome to extend, shorten, or lead an additional ride in competition with this ride.  If you plan on joining us, please let us know in advance, you should attend the happy hour / route planning meeting the night before, or check in with us, so that you are aware of any changes to the route, start time or start location.  30% PoP may cancel.
