Start Location: Mill Valley - Public Safety Buildings
Pre-registration
It wasn’t raining in sf but it is raining in mill valley
My actual birthday is 9/5, but 9/2 is the date celebrated in my family from ages 5 to ~16, so it's a good day for my Birthday Ride. We are doing Mt Tam Direct so most of us will not regard the summit as optional--the ride is mostly out and back so if you don't want to go to the summit, come along anyway. Some will find this ride too short. Rita will park near the Richmond Bridge, and ride to the ride start.
We'll ride from Mill Valley up to a regroup at Boot Jack and then on to Ridgecrest Blvd and up to the Summit. Bring enough snacks to power you to the top. Lunch will be at the Junction Beer Garden/Pizza Hacker (226 Shoreline Hwy) at mile ~26.
Two variations on the route: Chris and I like to descend Hwy 1, but many people prefer to descend through Mill Valley
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56722088 Mill Valley descent
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56722357 Highway 1 descent
PLEASE PREREGISTER--early if you can
It's too early for the weather forecast. Hoping the predicted rain on Mon and Tues will exit the scene

GPC Route: Heather Farm, Morgan Territory, Diablo Junction
Start Location: Walnut Creek - Heather Farm
Pre-registration
This is a scenic loop ride with two big climbs: Morgan Territory and Diablo Junction. Meet at Heather Farm by the baseball fields near water and restrooms. Heather Farm is close to Pleasant Hill BART and there's lots of free parking. Route can modified to avoid the second climb to the Junction by riding along Danville Blvd. We can figure out who is up for the second climb while having lunch at Tassajara Crossing.
There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Faster riders should feel free to push on after lunch. Just tell the leader first.

The start of fall is the perfect time for another Mt. Tam weekend ride. :)

Meet at 8:45 am for a 9:00 am start
Start Location: Rockridge BART
Pre-registration
Let's try this again a third time. First time I posted the ride, Carquinez bridge was closed. Second time I posted it, I didn't realize it was ASSR Saturday. So, I quickly deleted the ride.
I saw an episode of "Check Please Bay Area" and Mare Island Brewing was mentioned as a good spot for lunch. All these years of living in the Bay Area, I am sure if I have ever been to Mare Island. There are both good reasons to go. Bring your appetite and let's pedal!
Let's meet up at Rockridge BART at 8:45 and start at 9:00. I have not ridden this route before. This route was generated by Ride with GPS. So, if there are better section for cycling, I am all ears.
It will be a slow TM pace. Please bring all nutrition and ancillary hardware appropriate for a 52-mile ride.

GPC Route: Bears Loop
Start Location: Orinda - San Pablo Dam Rd and Bear Creek Rd
Mandatory pre-registration
If no riders have signed up by 7 a.m. the morning of the ITT/GPC Pace Ride, it will be cancelled. If there is at least one rider signed up, it will go forward and riders can register online up until 9:50 a.m.
Individual Time Trial
Come test your fitness level and get in a great workout by riding the Bears Loop as a time trial. In the ITT, each person rides at his/her own pace (no drafting) to see how fast the Bears Loop can be completed. It’s a great format for pushing yourself to see how fast you can ride the loop.
Pace Group Ride
Ride the Bears Loop at your normal pace to use it to determine your GPC pace (https://www.grizz.org/rides/ratings.php). Or use this ride to train at a particular pace for an upcoming event.
The first rider is off at 10:01 and a rider a minute after that. For the GPC Pace ride, a pace group can start together, or each rider can rider on their own as the ITT riders do. (Regardless of the format, each rider is timed individually.)
Rider finishing times are usually shared in the ride report email to the club. While it is nice to see what times folks ride, reporting of rider times is optional. Also, the ITT is open to both members and non-members; no need to join as in the past.

Cavedale and Mt Veeder loop
Start Location:
Cuttings Wharf
Pre-registration
Cavedale is still long and steep, but it has been repaved so at least it isn't rough anymore. This ride starts and ends flat, with two climbs in the middle. Bring snacks. We'll stop at Maxwell Farms (mile 16, restrooms), but no food stores until Browns Valley Market (mile 43). There are lots of turns at the beginning and end, so help me out by loading the route on your GPS device and keeping tabs on my navigation.
We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready to go. If you arrive after the meeting time, you may have to chase. You can probably catch us at Maxwell Farms. There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. TM riders should at least be comfortable in pacelines, and prepared to navigate if necessary.
