Meet at 10:00 am for a 10:15 am start
GPC Route: Pozo Loop
Start Location: Santa Margarita Community Park
Pre-registration
Note the later start time since we will be driving to get to the start. Accessed on our travel day between Solvang and Paso Robles, Pozo Loop offers up stunning scenery! There is good parking at the Community Park. Bring two full water bottles, as the water at the Ranger Station still says non potable. We will watch the temperatures. We generally eat at "The Porch" restaurant in town after the ride.
A cheerful adventurous attitude is encouraged. Strong navigation skills or riding with a buddy who knows the route can be very helpful. Please sign in online if you would like the leader to keep some track of you; there will not be a paper sign in sheet at the ride start. Two full water bottles and some nutrition makes good sense.

GPC Route: Peachy Canyon Loop
Start Location: Adelaide Inn, Paso Robles
Pre-registration
Meet for an early start with a prompt departure so that if you hurry, you could check out by 11 AM. People really will leave at 8 AM, and it will be cold! We will ride a beautiful loop around the wine country of Paso Robles. I am leading the shorter version, but if you have time, you can extend the standard loop with an additional loop out to Cypress Mountain for a 40 mile ride. Peachy Canyon has one of the nicest, curviest downhills anywhere, and it seems like it never stops, until it makes you climb again and then have even more fun! If you plan on joining us, please let us know in advance, you should attend the happy hour / route planning meeting the night before, or check in with us, so that you are aware of any changes to the route, start time or start location. This is the day that many people will return home, so there often are changes. Bomb cyclones or atmospheric rivers may cancel. Helmets, cheerful attitude, etc.

Meet at 7:45 am
Mandatory pre-registration
A great time of year for this scenic ride through a remote area of Sonoma County
3 distance options/starting locations, described below.
Please be sure to preregister - if I'm not expecting anyone at a given meeting point, I will not wait there.
For 100-mile route, start/end at my home near Cotati: 5523 Henning Road (short distance from Hwy 116, plenty of parking), meet @7:45, roll @8:00am.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39000447
For 79-mile version, start/end in Freestone. We'll be regrouping in Freestone ca. 8:40, roll at 8:50.
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38963426
For the 51-mile version, meet in Duncans Mills and be ready to roll ca 10:10am
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39375366
For those riding one of the longer options we'll arrive in Duncans Mills around 9:45 where we'll have a stop at the Bakery. Depart Duncans Mills ca 10:10am.
We will plan on finishing before sunset but a mechanical or two could have us finishing later. So lights are highly recommended.
This time of year, mornings in Sonoma County can be quite cold, and afternoons quite warm, so check the weather the morning of the ride and dress with appropriately flexible options.
Please pre-register, and let me know where you'll be starting from so I'll know to look for you at the starting points for the 2 shorter options.

3:25pm. NWS point forecast says ~50% chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon/evening. But all afternoon the radar has shown the active storm system moving away and south from us. If it stays like this, I'll be at the ride start for anyone else who wants to join. Roads will have a lot of water however and I'll be on a slower bike suitable for such conditions.
This is the classic Tuesday night workout & skills ride, M-pace. Please read the ride details and route description at http://www.abriz.net/gpc/tues-ride.html. Bring your high energy, your high attention to safety, and your best bike handling and pack riding skills. Repeats every Tuesday through the last week of September. Meet at 10:00 am for a 10:15 am start
Start Location: Moraga - Rancho Laguna Park
Pre-registration
Ride start is pushed back to give the roads a chance to dry. Meet at 11, Roll at 11:15.
Come ride on familiar roads with some possible surprises. The first is the starting point, Rancho Laguna Park in Moraga, a pretty park you may not know. Another is Lake Cascade in Orinda, which we'll circle. Often overlooked by cyclists whizzing by on nearby Camino San Pablo, the Lake is now completely full, teeming with ducks, geese, and other waterfowl.
You'll have two options:
a 43-mile route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53473248 with a lunch stop at Golden Hills Park, off Reliez Valley Road;
a 23-mile route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53473660 with lunch at the end of the ride at Rancho Laguna Park.
Bring your lunch or pick it up along the way in Moraga or Orinda. Forecast is for rain overnight with clearing by our roll time. If clearing appears delayed, we may start a little later. Watch for updates. Please pre-register.

This week’s ride is cancelled due to wet trails. Fingers crossed for a dry week after this storm passes.
This ride will start at El Cerrito Plaza BART. We will warm up riding the bike path 3 miles to the Alvarado Park entrance to Wildcat Canyon. This will be a no drop ride good for riders new to gravel riding, training for the GPC Gravel Century, or just want to ride at a more chill pace. It is recommended to have 32mm or bigger tires. Bring warm layers and bright lights to see by on the way home. The majority of the dirt sections will be fire roads with two sections of singletrack at the end. We will have regular regroups and there will be an option to skip the singletrack sections at the end of the ride.

GPC Route: Heather Farm, Morgan Territory, Diablo Junction
Start Location: Walnut Creek - Heather Farm
Pre-registration
Meet in the penultimate northern parking lot of Heather Farm in Walnut Creek (by the baseball fields) for this ride to Clayton, Morgan Territory, and Diablo Junction. Draeger's Market is gone, so we'll explore the shopping center on the other side of Tassajara for lunch.
Note that Heather Farm is about a mile from Pleasant Hill BART, which is probably the preferred way to get there. If you want to make the ride easier you can skip the Diablo climb after lunch and work your way back on the Iron Horse Trail or using this nicer route. Navigation for those options is up to you.
There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time you may have to chase. You can probably catch us at the park in Clayton, where we will have a brief stop.

Meet at 7:30 am for a 7:40 am start
Start Location: Pleasanton - Neal & Railroad Ave
Mandatory pre-registration
Fri 17:30. Weather forecast for tomorrow looks good! It may be chilly in the morning - overall the day looks to have cool temps.
The classic GPC Del Puerto loop from Pleasanton. A fabulous variety of terrain for riding, sightseeing, climbing (including one 1.5 mile steep pitch, hence the "!" in the listing), descending, and pacelining (optional but recommended).
In 120 miles we'll traverse the Livermore Valley; ride out to the Central Valley; skirt around Tracy and Patterson; climb Del Puerto Canyon to San Antonio Junction; climb away from the Junction, zoom down Mines Road, and finally re-traverse the Livermore Valley back to Pleasanton. The route: ridewithgps.com/routes/26625111. It has no shortcuts or bailouts. Note for those who have ridden that "other" :-) bike club's route recently: We follow a classic and different route through both valleys, including vineyard and foothill views through the Livermore Valley and the historic Hwy 33 through Vernalis and Westley in the Central Valley.
For the Pleasanton start (120 mile version), be ready to ride at 7:30am - please arrive long enough in advance to get ready. Prompt 7:40am departure. Location: Pleasanton at Railroad Ave just north of W. Neal (between First and Main Sts). Nice public restrooms are nearby, in the park one block south (but if you might need the restroom, please arrive and be parked by 07:15 latest).
For the 100 mile version, meet us in Livermore at Ernie Rodrigues Fields near the intersection of Concannon Blvd and S Livermore Ave. Parking and restrooms are available. Please be there, ready to ride, at 8:20am, although our exact arrival time is not possible to predict.
Three food stops: A convenience store near Tracy, about 1/4-way (no restrooms, alas); lunch near Patterson, about 1/2-way; refreshments (pricey, however) at The Junction in San Antonio Valley, about 3/4-way.
Pace. This is listed as "TM" and is for reasonably strong TM riders, not aspirational. Much of the route is relatively flat so pacelining skills will help you stay with the group. Happy to give pointers about that on the ride.
Bring lights in case of a later return than expected, especially if you're doing the 120 mile route. Be prepared for chilly morning weather.
Preregistration is mandatory for Livermore starters so that we know to expect you - please email me or else indicate "Livermore" when you register. Prereg is greatly appreciated in any case.

GPC Route: Bears Loop
Start Location: Orinda - San Pablo Dam Rd and Bear Creek Rd
Mandatory pre-registration
If no riders have signed up by 7 a.m. the morning of the ITT/GPC Pace Ride, it will be cancelled. If there is at least one rider signed up, it will go forward and riders can register online up until 9:50 a.m.
Individual Time Trial
Come test your fitness level and get in a great workout by riding the Bears Loop as a time trial. In the ITT, each person rides at his/her own pace (no drafting) to see how fast the Bears Loop can be completed. It’s a great format for pushing yourself to see how fast you can ride the loop.
Pace Group Ride
Ride the Bears Loop at your normal pace to use it to determine your GPC pace (https://www.grizz.org/rides/ratings.php). Or use this ride to train at a particular pace for an upcoming event.
The first rider is off at 10:01 and a rider a minute after that. For the GPC Pace ride, a pace group can start together, or each rider can rider on their own as the ITT riders do. (Regardless of the format, each rider is timed individually.)
Rider finishing times are usually shared in the ride report email to the club. While it is nice to see what times folks ride, reporting of rider times is optional. Also, the ITT is open to both members and non-members; no need to join as in the past.

Ride start is pushed back to give the roads a chance to dry. Meet at 11, Roll at 11:15.
Come ride on familiar roads with some possible surprises. The first is the starting point, Rancho Laguna Park in Moraga, a pretty park you may not know.

Century Prep Series rides are designed to prepare new and/or veteran cyclists to ride the Grizzly Peak Century. We emphasize riding in a group and start with relatively easy routes. To check out the entire series and for more information see our Century Prep Series webpage. Non-members are welcome on all GPC rides, but please note: Because of insurance requirements, we limit participation in GPC rides by non-members to two (2) GPC rides. After you join us for a couple rides, please join the club. Your membership includes excess medical and accident insurance.
This ninth ride in the 2026 Century Prep Series leaves from Orinda BART. This is the north loop of the century, from Orinda BART, using the Bay Trail through Pinole and Rodeo. Members and nonmembers can all pre-register using the link above to save us time at the start.
This ride is NO DROP. This means nobody will be left behind, no matter their pace or ability. Helmets are required. We look forward to riding with you! Rain cancels. Check this page the day of the ride if weather is dubious.
For all the rides in the Century Prep Series and more information, see our Century Prep Series webpage.

GPC Route:
Mt. Veeder Counterclockwise
Start Location:
Cuttings Wharf
Pre-registration
It is time for springtime in Napa with one of our favorite rides - with the counterclockwise ride to Mt. Veeder and enjoy spring flowers and green hills after the rain in the vineyards with the return route that includes a beautiful bike trail along a eucalyptus grove! Plan for sunny day but not too hot. The climb up Mt Veeder will mostly be in the shade and then the remaining part of the ride is either downhill or mostly flat. Bring plenty of water and snacks; late lunch stop at Browns Valley Market and the yogurt shop. Then we will take our route back to the cars at Cuttings Wharf. Bring layers.

Start Location:
El Cerrito Plaza BART
Pre-registration

Start Location:
San Rafael - Marinwood Community Center
Pre-registration
From our Marinwood start, we will ride to Nicasio, then to Pt Reyes Station for a pastry, then up the coast to the Marshall Wall, which is a two-humper in this direction. Lunch at the Cheese Factory before completing the loop.
Shorten the ride to about 42 miles by starting in Nicasio. We should pass through there about 10:20 or so.
Please pre-register if you can. There is sometimes a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time you may have to chase. You can probably catch us in Nicasio, where we will have a short regroup.
