Meet at 3:00 pm
Start Location: Solvang - Royal Copenhagen Inn
If you are in Solvang and can be ready to roll by 3:00 PM, meet in the parking lot of the Royal Copenhagen Inn 1579 Mission Drive. This day I can not wait for stragglers. The route is very easy if you want to do it alone. We will head out to Los Olivos and come back Ballard Canyon on the Tour of California Solvang Time Trial Loop. If you plan on joining us, please do let us know in advance. 30% PoP may cancel.
Leader: Mark Abrahams (510) 524-1294
Meet at 8:00 am for a 8:10 am start
Start Location: Pleasanton - Neal & Railroad Ave
This is the classic GPC Del Puerto loop from Pleasanton. A fabulous variety of terrain for riding, sightseeing, climbing (including one 1.5 mile steep pitch, hence the "!" in the listing), descending, pacelining (optional), and a bit of craft beer drinking too (also optional).
Be ready to ride at 8:05am — please arrive long enough in advance to get ready. Prompt 8:10am departure. Location: Pleasanton at Railroad Ave just north of W. Neal (between First and Main Sts). Nice public restrooms are nearby, one block south (but if you might need the restroom, please arrive and be parked by 07:45 latest). Be prepared for chilly morning weather. The route: ridewithgps.com/routes/26625111.
In 120 miles we'll traverse the Livermore Valley; ride out to the Central Valley; skirt around Tracy and Patterson; climb Del Puerto Canyon to San Antonio Junction; climb away from the Junction and zoom down Mines Road; and finally re-traverse the Livermore Valley back to Pleasanton. (Side note for those who have ridden that "other" bike club's route recently: We follow a classic, different, and IMHO better route through both valleys — including the historic Hwy 33 through Vernalis and Westley.) The route includes 3 rest stops. It has no shortcuts or bailouts. A shorter (100 mile) option is available, starting in Livermore, but for this you must RSVP to the ride leader. RSVP's are appreciated, in any case, for map count.
NWS PoPs 20% or more will likely cancel. If weather is doubtful, contact ride leader by 9:00pm the night before or check the online listings for an update — don't assume anything.

GPC Route: Orinda to Bear Claw Cafe
Start Location: Orinda BART NW corner of parking lot
Ride out to Pinole, along San Pablo Dam Road and Pinole Valley Road. Our goal is to get some riders who may cringe at riding the hilly 'bears route'; but who would like to do about 30 miles to maybe get back into riding again. Planned destination is the Bear Claw Cafe, a quaint, old-timey family bakery in downtown Pinole, with a visual historical treat in the alcove next to the building. Faster riders are welcome, too...just save me a Bear Claw! Bring a friend. Meet at 9:30 am
Start Location: Livermore - Mines Rd & Del Valle
Yes, the Wednesday Grizzlies will have just done this ride, but for the rest of us, now is also the time to ride Mines Road. With the just-recent rain, the wildflowers are sure to be in full bloom, and the creeks should still be running. Meet at the intersection of Mines Road and Del Valle Road in Livermore. Bring water, snacks and lunch or money to buy at the Junction Cafe. We'll ride out past the Cafe for a few miles if the Wednesday group reports great flowers in that section, and then return to the Cafe for lunch. Leader rides at a fast TM pace, but all paces are welcome since this is an out-and-back ride. Meet at 9:30, roll by 9:45.
To get to the start, exit I-580 at N. Livermore Ave. and proceed south
through town. N. Livermore becomes S. Livermore and then curves left
and becomes Tesla. After about a half mile on Tesla, turn right on
Mines Rd and go about four miles to a T intersection where Mines turns
left and Del Valle goes straight. Turn left to stay on Mines and go
about a tenth of a mile to a place with a wide shoulder and park. Note: There’s no restroom at the starting point. Suggest stopping in Livermore as needed.

Solvang - Royal Copenhagen Inn
If you are in Solvang and can be ready to roll by 3:00 PM, meet in the parking lot of the Royal Copenhagen Inn 1579 Mission Drive. This day I can not wait for stragglers. The route is very easy if you want to do it alone. We will head out to Los Olivos and come back Ballard Canyon on the Tour of California Solvang Time Trial Loop. If you plan on joining us, please do let us know in advance. 30% PoP may cancel.

Start Location:
Pleasanton - Neal & Railroad Ave

Orinda to Bear Claw Cafe
Start Location:
Orinda BART NW corner of parking lot
Ride out to Pinole, along San Pablo Dam Road and Pinole Valley Road. Our goal is to get some riders who may cringe at riding the hilly 'bears route'; but who would like to do about 30 miles to maybe get back into riding again. Planned destination is the Bear Claw Cafe, a quaint, old-timey family bakery in downtown Pinole, with a visual historical treat in the alcove next to the building. Faster riders are welcome, too...just save me a Bear Claw! Bring a friend. Optional lunch at Orinda Square (Petra's Greek Cafe, Europa Hof-Brau, Nation's burgers, Subway, Peet's and Starbucks). https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14580950. Start Location:
Livermore - Mines Rd & Del Valle
