Meet at 7:45 am for a 8:00 am start
Start Location: San Rafael - Miller Creek Community Center

We will start early to get over the Marshall wall before it gets really hot, then along the coast and back up through cool Lucas valley. Stops at Stafford lake and Pt Reyes station, Nicassio on the way back if anyone needs water. It will get hot, so come prepared with adequate water supply, salt tabs, etc. I’ve only ridden this route a few times so please download the RWGPS!

Meet at 8:15 am
Start Location: Healdsburg - W. Matheson St and Vine St
Pre-registration
************Ride Cancelled*********
Heat advisory on Saturday in the Valley. I will reschedule for another day
************Ride Cancelled**********
Meet at 8:15 and roll at 8:30. Start at Healdsburg - W. Matheson St and Vine St and head over to Guerneville via Sweetwater Springs then cruise north along Sonoma Valley up to Cloverdale and loop along the Geysers back to Healdsburg. Food stops in Guerneville at mile 20 and Cloverdale at mile 53. There isn't much after that until we get back to Healdsburg so plan accordingly. As with all GPC rides, we will have regroups. E-bikes welcome as long as you have enough battery and are willing to pull us in the wind. The route can be found here: Sweetwater Springs and the Geysers Route. The route has the start at the Safeway which is a block away but the official start is as listed above and it is where I will be expecting you.

This month we are trying out Johnny's Doughnuts at Larkspur Landing. There is also a popular Farmers Market (with fantastic pastries from Rustic Bakery) in the same mall which you can explore. We will ride our bikes over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, and enjoy a warm donut or pastry.
We welcome new riders! A large portion of the route is on dedicated bike path, but please be cautious going over train tracks in Richmond. We will have a bathroom and water stop at Richmond Marina Park about 6 miles in.

************Beat the heat************
Practice gravel biking by the waters edge. Join us and be cool.
This ride is good for riders who are new to riding mixed terrain, or Gravel Biking. We will work on bike handling on fire roads, gravel, some single track, and various trails along the waterfront. You will need to have tires 32mm or bigger tires. All levels are welcome to join and work on skills riding. The group will stop at several locations on the route to work through some simple terrain obstacles and features.

Meet at 10:00 am
GPC Route: Sebastopol - Willow Creek
Start Location: Sebastopol - Ragle Rd/Covert Lane
Pre-registration
It's going to be a hot one. Bring enough water - and salt.
From Sebastopol head out to Occidental, and down the Russian River to Hwy 1. Right after crossing the river near Jenner we turn left and ride along the south side of the Russian River for a bit. There are one or two rough spots, but the gravel is hard packed and not hard to ride. After 4 miles there's a gate across the road, and it gets really peaceful for several miles. It's not technical, since it was once a paved road. You can ride it on 25 mm tires, and probably 23 mm tires will also work. Since the unpaved parts are decayed asphalt, it should be rideable unless there's a lot of heavy rain. There are one or two really steep bits, but they're short, and it's not a great hardship to walk them. We come out on Coleman Valley Road and continue through Freestone. The route is in the club library at https://www.grizz.org/routes/detail.php?id=181, except that we take Moscow Road on the south side of the Russian River. For the exact route see https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37252403. Moscow Road is closed to cars where the road has fallen away, but bikes can get through. Many roads in Sonoma County have been resurfaced, among them Occidental Road, Bohemian Highway, and the first part of Willow Creek road. It's a pleasure to ride them, which wasn't always the case. The coffee shop in Duncan's Mills has limited offerings, and there's not much at Wild Flour either. You had best bring your own sustenance. Please download your own map or print from https://mail.employees.org/~pmorton/gpc/rides/Willow_Creek_via_Occidental_Rd-_Moscow_Road.pdf. Let us know if you need a printed version of the route.

Meet at 10:00 am
Pre-registration
4th of July can be a good time to ride the streets of San Francisco. We'll hit a corner of Golden Gate Park, ride through the Presidio, along Ocean Beach, and over Twin Peaks, plus Sea Cliff and Saint Francis Woods neighborhoods. We'll stop at the Boulangerie in Cole Vallely near the end. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43504310
Wear layers for cool weather. Highs in the low 60's, cooler at the start.
Meet at the Panhandle Restrooms (Between Oak and Fell near Ashbury). This site is accessible from Civic Center BART. (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/16292705) is our favorite route, although others prefer the 'wiggle'.
PLEASE PRE-REGISTER!

Meet at 5:30 pm for a 5:35 pm start
Start Location: Berkeley - Spruce & Grizzly Peak Blvd - Plaza

No ride for July 4. Happy Independence Day! Enjoy the celebrations.
By the way, on July 4 Grizzly Peak Blvd will be closed all day to auto traffic between Centennial and Skyline. Apparently it will remain open to bikes, giving a car-free experience. Here is the City of Oakland announcement.
This is the classic Tuesday night workout & skills ride, M-pace. Please read the ride details and route description at http://www.abriz.net/gpc/tues-ride.html. Bring your high energy, your high attention to safety, and your best bike handling and pack riding skills. Repeats every Tuesday through the last week of September. Preregistration is encouraged and closes at 4:30pm. No flashing lights please. No e-bikes please. Rain or bad AQI cancels. E-mail Mark if any questions.

GPC Route: Nicasio to Marshall
Start Location: Nicasio
Pre-registration
We will do the standard counter-clockwise Marshall loop. We will meet at 10am in Nicasio and ride past the Cheese Factory and then up and over the Marshall Wall to Marshall for lunch. The Marshall store is not open on Wednesdays so bring your lunch to enjoy by Tomales Bay. Return via Highway 1 to Pt Reyes Station for coffee and treats at Bovine Bakery before returning to Nicasio. Hopefully it will be sunny and not too hot but bring layers for ride along the bay. .

Meet at 5:25 pm for a 5:35 pm start
Start Location: El Cerrito Del Norte BART
Pre-registration
[RideWithGPS route] The ride has evolved with RTO (Return To Office). With some people going into the office a few days per week (generally Tuesdays and Thursdays), we are moving this ride to Wednesdays.
Join us for a social mixed terrain ride. We recommend tires wider than 32mm and gearing easier than 1:1. This is a T-pace ride with some steep and rocky climbs. Due to the early sunset, we will keep regroups short. Bright lights and a jacket. Riders are welcome to peel off at any point to get in more riding or head on home. Pictures from past rides: [1][2][3] E-bikes are not allowed on this route's trails.
Meet us at the southeast corner of Cutting Avenue and the Ohlone Greenway [Google Maps street view] We have a hard roll time of 5:35pm.

Meet at 9:30 am
GPC Route: Heather Farm, Morgan Territory, Diablo Junction
Start Location: Walnut Creek - Heather Farm
Pre-registration
I forgot that Diablo Northgate is fully closed. After Morgan Territory we will ride into Livermore for lunch, then return via Collier Canyon. Here is the new route on RideWithGPS.
Let's be among the first to experience newly paved Morgan Territory Road. This might also be our last chance of the season before hot weather sets in.
Meet in the penultimate northern parking lot of Heather Farm in Walnut Creek (by the baseball fields) for this ride to Clayton, Morgan Territory, and Diablo Junction. Lunch will be at Draeger's Market in Blackhawk Plaza.
Note that Heather Farm is about a mile from Pleasant Hill BART, which is probably the preferred way to get there. If you want to make the ride easier you can skip the Diablo climb after lunch and work your way back on the Iron Horse Trail. Navigation for that option is simple, but up to you.
There is often a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. We'll start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time you may have to chase. You can probably catch us at the park in Clayton, where we will have a brief stop.

Why? Because it is there (or, "I'll do anything for that jersey"). This is one of the climbs in the Epic climb series (webpage to be updated). We are going for an early start, to avoid the heat, at the Stinson Beach parking lot (opens at 9:00). There are restrooms and water at the ride start, Pan Toll/Panoramic intersection and the top of Mt Tam. Calculating the ride rating, this is a 6.6, hence the ! mark. Lunch is after the ride, but I expect multiple pauses/regroups. Really, as Phil Morton says, it's just one hill. Sorry for the late post here.

Marinwood to Dillon Beach where we'll have lunch at the General Store. Outbound via Chileno Valley and Valley Ford; return via Tomales, Pt Reyes Stn, and Lagunitas. The inland forecast is hot, so we will beat the heat ... for the most part. (Unavoidably, the final return will be warm.)
Meet, ready to ride, at 8:00am for prompt departure at 8:10am. Please arrive early if you need time for restrooms or to set up.
The route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33138177. Lunch is at Dillon Beach, mile 51. We'll have one more afternoon snack stop: either Pt Reyes Stn or Lagunitas, to be determined. Bring enough on-bike food & drink for those mileages
Update: Recent Yelp reviews for the Dillon Beach General Store suggest that it may not have as many lunch choices as I remember -- though it does have some. So we'll also make a quick stop in Valley Ford to allow anyone who has doubts to buy lunch there. (Or, bring your own).

From our Marinwood start, we will ride to Nicasio, then past the the Cheese Factory, Hicks Valley, and over the Marshall Wall to Hwy 1. Lunch in Pt. Reyes Station before completing the loop.
Shorten the ride to about 42 miles by starting in Nicasio. We should pass through there about 10:20 or so.

Start Location: Helen Putnam Park, Petaluma

We’ll now be starting at 8AM instead of 9AM due to predicted high temps on the ride. Let’s get a jumpstart on beating the heat!
Meet at 7:45, roll at 8AM.
We’ll still have cupcakes after and we’ll still meet at Pub Republic for anyone who wants to continue partying with beer and burgers!
It's my birthday and I'll ride if I want to! And you know I want to!
Join me in Petaluma for a day of bikes and fun on my birthday (yes, it's actually my birthday!)...
This ride follows much of the northern loop of the Holstein 100K (the organized event no longer takes place, but we can still ride the route). Lunch will be at Mile 33.8 at Wild Flour bakery - this is really the only place I know of for bathrooms and water, so please come prepared with 2 water bottles and snacks.
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43592689
Note that parking at Helen Putnam is $7 so carpooling is encouraged. You can also park for free on the shoulder of Spring Hill at Western if you want and then roll down to the park to meet us.
I realize 9AM may be a little early for a Petaluma start, but, it's summer and it's going to get hot so I think we should get a move on! Just set your alarm a little earlier, you can do it...
And yes, OF COURSE there will be cupcakes afterwards because what is a birthday party without cake?? You know how I roll (cycling pun intended).
Join me in Downtown Petaluma for my afterparty at Pub Republic - beer, burgers, salads, and more cupcakes bc why not? 3120 Lakeville Hwy, Petaluma, CA 94954

The San Francisco Marathon is today (I learned belatedly). Our routes coincide on the JFK Promenade. I can find no word that JFK is closed to bikes and pedestrians, so I expect the impact to be greater congestion in this area, but this is not a long section.
Meet at the Panhandle restrooms; located in the Golden Gate Park Panhandle, just west of Ashbury. This location is easily accessible from Civic Center BART; Exit BART at UN Plaza, go west on Market Street following the well marked route to the "wiggle" to the Panhandle. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19701226 or use Chris's favorite route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/16292705
The weather forecast looks good, so we decided to ride San Bruno Mountain on Sunday (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43757468). We will ride through Golden Gate Park, enjoying the new JFK Promenade, along Ocean Beach and to the top of San Bruno Mountain, the highest spot for miles around. After descending from the summit, we will regroup at the San Bruno Mountain Park picnic area (water, restrooms) for lunch/snacks; bring your own. Return through McLaren Park and over Twin Peaks where the east side of the Figure 8 and part of the descent are permanently closed to to motor vehicles and open for bikes and peds (for now). Optional regruop on Cole Street near the end of the ride for coffee/other goodies. There are many turns on this urban/suburban ride, but we will enlist marshals for corners, and if you want to go ahead; you can use the ridewithgps route. In this urban traffic environment, 27 miles feels longer. It is hilly, and there are a couple of VERY short steep sections in McLaren Park.
Weather forecast: Partly sunny at the beach, less than 60° in the morning, windy; bring layers for this coolest segment.
If you want a cue sheet, let me know, and I will send you a pdf.

This has become my favorite wine country ride, created and reworked by the Wednesday Ride group after the demise of the Jimtown Store. So no fun toys and quirky food in Jimtown, but lunch on the green in downtown Healdsburg instead. Route heads east on Shiloh Road, takes Faught Rd to Chalk Hill, skips Jimtown and heads into Geyserville. Then it's Canyon Rd to Dry Creek, and Yoakim Bridge, and West Dry Creek and Westside into Healdsburg. Back on Westside and Wohler Bridge to return with Mark West Station Road. Bring lunch or money to buy, 2 water bottles, and your sunscreen. Current forecast shows a high of 80-82 on Saturday, so we'll start a bit early in order to finish before the high of the day. Meeting place has plenty of parking, bathrooms and a water fountain. Please download the directions to your preferred device, leader may only bring a very limited number of route sheets. Ride will be at TM pace, but anyone comfortable navigating the route on their own is welcome, whether they anticipate being off the front or off the back. Start Location:
Sebastopol - Ragle Rd/Covert Lane

Bucolic ride with many hills includes Wildcat Canyon Road in Tilden park, St. Mary’s trail, Canyon Road, Pinehurst Road, Skyline and Grizzly Peak Blvd, mostly low traffic roads. Regrouping at about 5-8 mile intervals. 41 miles with 3300 feet of climbing mostly at the beginning and end. Check the ride profile. This ride is not a race but as with many rides in the east bay you will be ascending though the east bay regional park and the associated hills. Bring a lunch and drink. There should be many places to stop and relax.

Join us for an essentially flat ride from Lake Merritt Bart Station (meet on Oak near 8th). We will be crossing the High St bridge and circling clockwise to Alameda shoreline, USS Hornet, and then returning to the bridge on a separated bike path. That is the ride end; however the ride leaders will continue on to Berkeley/Richmond by bike. Please join us for a low-key, no drop ride. We are hoping for at least six registrants.

There is often a faster (more like M pace) group on this ride, but we all come back together at frequent regroups and lunch. Faster riders should feel free to push on after lunch. Just tell the leader first. We will start when everyone who arrives by the meeting time is ready. If you arrive after the meeting time, you may have to chase.

We’ll now be starting at 8AM instead of 9AM due to predicted high temps on the ride. Let’s get a jumpstart on beating the heat!
Meet at 7:45, roll at 8AM.

Sonoma Wine Country Loop CCW
Start Location:
Esposti Park, WIndsor

The ride is still on, with weather reports indicating slightly warmer temperatures later in the afternoon. But the morning should be fine, and we'll finish before the heat of the day kicks in. Leader will be bringing cold drinks for everyone at the finish. Let's ride!
Check the website the night before for any weather-related updates. Let's ride.

Come join as we ride Paradise Loop together!
We have the most fun on rides where everyone sticks together and rides as a group. So, we'll ride at whatever speed the slowest rider is comfortable with, AKA party pace. Since your leaders are LT/T riders, we definitely won't go faster than that, but we may go slower so we can all enjoy the route together. If this social, chill vibe sounds fun to you, please join us!
RWGPS route link here. Lunch/water/bathroom stop at Woodlands Market/Rustic Bakery on Tiburon at mile 18.
Looking forward to seeing you out there!

This ride is good for riders who are new to riding mixed terrain, or Gravel Biking. After a warm up climb up Spruce Street, we will work on bike handling on fire roads in Tilden Park and Wildcat Canyon. You will need to have tires 32mm or bigger tires. All levels are welcome to join and work on skills riding. The group will stop at several locations on the route to work through some simple terrain obstacles and features. This is a "No Drop" ride.
