Meet at 9:00 am
Start Location: Fremont - Visitor Center, Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge
From Lori Sommer: Fremont Freewheelers
Walt Thomas is turning 86! Come join the celebration. Some things change and some things remain the same.
Our start location, route and lunch stop will change again this year, the fun will remain the same. We will meet in the upper parking lot of Don Edwards, above the Visitor's Center. Please wear your club jersey. Vanessa and I will be there (with a cooler or two) to collect your yummy contribution to lunch. Grab your helmet decorations, suffer through a few pictures and go enjoy the ride. Ken has created a nice, 27 mile route mostly along paths and of course the optional Nike Hill. Optional for everyone except Walt, that is!
Lunch will be at Coyote Hills Dairy Glen Picnic area if it isn't taken. Otherwise, we will picnic at the Visitor's Center. A route sheet will be provided and cake will be served along with lemonade and water. For those unable to join the ride, please feel free to join us at the picnic. Thanks so much to Ken and Vanessa for helping with organizing this event.
This ride is co-listed with the Valley Spokesmen and Hikanbyke Extreme temperatures or construction may modify the route. Rain cancels, check yahoo group, email or call Lori Sommer; lorimsommer@gmail.com; (510) 693-8624.

Meet at 7:30 am for a 7:45 am start
Start Location: Woodside Town Hall
Even though some roads in the Santa Cruz mountains are still closed due to winter storm damage, it's still possible to make a full loop along some very scenic roads. This clockwise loop puts most of the climbing in the first 50 miles, but coastal headwinds might still make the return a challenge. Note there's a 2 mile packed gravel uphill trail section up to Lexington reservoir, so put on those wide tires! We should finish before sunset at 19:13, but bring a light just in case. Lunch will be in Davenport which has a bakery, restaurant and store, plus there are several food stops on the way. Details are at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/24455929 Carpool to the start recommended. Please let me know if you're planning to come.

Meet at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am start
Ride out to Pinole, along San Pablo Dam Road and Pinole Valley Road. Our goal is to get some riders who may cringe at riding the hilly 'bears route'; but who would like to do about 30 miles to maybe get back into riding again. Planned destination is the Bear Claw Cafe, a quaint, old-timey family bakery in downtown Pinole, with a visual historical treat in the alcove next to the building. Faster riders are welcome, too...just save me a Bear Claw! Bring a friend. Optional lunch at Orinda Square (Petra's Greek Cafe, Europa Hof-Brau, Nation's burgers, Subway, Peet's and Starbucks). https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14580950 Check out Social Biker Group on Facebook. Meet at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am start
Start Location: Duncans Mills
Update 9/16/17: According to http://sonomacounty.ca.gov/TPW/Roads/Projects/Hauser-Bridge-Replacement/, it looks like there are no closures sched for Hauser Bridge this weekend but conditions may be dicey. We'll leave it open to try it if riders are game for it.
5/T/30 UPDATED KING'S RIDGE RIDE ROUTE - Hauser Bridge on King's Ridge Road across the Gualala River is closed for replacement and conditions are unsafe for cycling this weekend. Please join us instead for this rugged, forested ride westward across Sonoma County on Fort Ross Road to Meyer's Grade followed by a scintillating descent to Highway 1 and back to Duncan Mills. We will make an optional stop at Aquatica Cafe in Jenner (about 5 miles from the end of the ride) to refuel with hot chowder on the deck. Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/25176491
This is a gorgeous and challenging ride featuring 5,000 feet of climbing with a spectacular final descent into Jenner on Meyer’s Grade. The route is challenging along remote country roads but -and rewarding for strong T riders.Important: Bring plenty of liquid and food. One possible water stop just past the halfway point is sometimes unavailable and no real food options once we pass Cazadero about 5 miles in. There will be an optional stop Aquatica Café in Jenner (about five miles before the end of the ride) to refuel with some creamy hot chowder. We'll meet at Duncans Mills. Park on B street.

Meet at 8:20 am for a 8:30 am start
We will start at Heather Farm Community Center in Walnut Creek at 8:30AM (gather at 8:20), go through Clayton to about a mile beyond the Morgan Territory turnoff - this is Leon Drive, the MT bypass road while work is being done. We may or may not be able to take this bypass to continue on MT to the top and then the usual route to Draeger's in Blackhawk for lunch and then back to HF.
Alternatively, if we can't take the bypass road, we'll continue on Marsh Creek to Byron and wherever our wanderlust takes us, but probably no more than 55-60 miles total.
As usual, please RSVP.

Start Location:
Fremont - Visitor Center, Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge
