Meet at 10:00 am for a 10:15 am start
Start Location: Healdsburg - W. Matheson St and Vine St
CANCELLED. Chance of rain is 40% in Healdsburg, so ride is cancelled for Saturday. We will re-list it at a later date.
This is my favorite ride of the year when Deb and the Wednesday Group head up to Healdsburg to take in the fall colors. This year was particularly fun -- great group, good roads, nice colors -- so fun, in fact, that I decided to ride it on my birthday. And since the mileage is close to what will be my new age, we may even throw in a few extra miles at the end to hit the magic number. The "reverse" route seemed to work well, putting the bulk of the mileage before lunch. So we will begin with Westside Rd and then head over to Windsor and onto Chalk Hill and Alexander Valley to Jimtown. We will return through Geyersville, Canyon Rd, and finish up on West Dry Creek Rd with its spectacular colors. Lunch will be at Jimtown store at 31 miles so you may want to bring a snack to tide you over, and you can even call in your order that morning or the day before so that it is ready when you get there. The ride has a few hills but no major climbs. It is about 53 miles, but one can skip the afternoon loop and go straight back from Jimtown to Healdsburg for a total distance of about 37 miles. Take the Central Healdsburg exit off 101 North. This becomes Healdsburg Ave. Go a couple of blocks to Matheson and turn left. The lot is on the right about another block down, and should be available because the Farmer's Market ends in November. But if the lot is full, there is parking just past it on Grove and on various side streets. Look for the leader -- wearing GPC gear, of course! Bring some warm layers -- December mornings in the wine country can be cold. There are bathrooms near the bridge to the shops. 20% or greater threat of rain will postpone to another time -- it's too far a drive to risk riding in the rain. Call the leader by 8:15 that morning if in doubt.

Planned destination is the Bear Claw Cafe, a quaint, old-timey family bakery in downtown Pinole, with a visual historical treat in the alcove next to the building. Faster riders are welcome, too...just save me a Bear Claw! Bring a friend.
