Leader: Charles Fineman     (510) 367-3283    text
Meet at 8:00 am for a 8:15 am start
Start Location: Nicasio
UPDATE:

I botched a copy and paste... the CORRECT ROUTE is: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30327936

Update to the update... Seems I didn't look closely at the map... I am NOT intending to take everyone old railroad up but rather the normal road from pan till. Sorry for the confusion/hastiness

Leave from the baseball field at Nicasio Valley Rd & Old Rancheria (https://goo.gl/maps/SKP6smxQk63vEKq26)

RSVP is requested.

Unsure about parking there (appears to be a 2 hour limit there) but I see often cars parked along Nicasio Valley Rd just a bit to the North.

Here's the route: https://goo.gl/maps/SKP6smxQk63vEKq26

We will head towards the Cheese Factory for a very brief water stop then on to the east side of Marshal Wall. Dropping down to HW1 we will make our way south to Pt Reyes Station for our first refreshments (and I hope not my last stop at the Bovine Bakery).

After that we continue south for 15 or so mile to Stinson Beach then up Panoramic and Pan Toll and then all the way up Mt Tam. Return via 7 sisters and Alpine Dam road. We can stop for water again in Fairfax before heading north. There will be an official regroup & refreshments in Wood Acre about 5 miles from the finish.

I want to be in Mill Valley mid afternoon to check out a couple bike shops (shoes to be specific) so I'll be trying to keep a decent/steady but not breakneck pace going. An 815 start should leave plenty of time for that! This also means there will not be a "true" lunch stop but the two refreshment stops should be sufficient.

Friendly but hilly workout & skills ride. We have two pace groups — M and B — each usually with its own leader (Mark and/or Nick for M; Matt for B). Either group will give you a sustained hard workout and will help develop your skills in climbing, descending, drafting, pacelining, positioning, and sprinting. Please read ride details and route description at http://www.abriz.net/gpc/tues-ride.html. RAIN CANCELS.

We will ride the standard bike route to Fairfax, then over White's Hill and through Woodacre to Nicasio Valley Rd and a snack in Pt. Reyes Station. Then Bear Valley to Hwy 1 South with lunch in Stinson Beach. Then more Hwy 1 to the climb through Muir Woods and finally Sequoia down to Mill Valley. The ride is a bit flatter than our usual routes.

The Lucky Drive / Doherty Drive exit off 101 South is probably the easiest way to get to Piper Park. Or you can come Sir Francis Drake to Bon Air, etc. There are rest rooms and water at the start.

GPC Route:
Orinda to Bear Claw Cafe
Start Location:
Orinda BART NW corner of parking lot

Ride out to Pinole, along San Pablo Dam Road and Pinole Valley Road.  Our goal is to get some riders who may cringe at riding the hilly 'bears route'; but who would like to do about 30 miles to maybe get back into riding again. Planned destination is the Bear Claw Cafe, a quaint, old-timey family bakery in downtown Pinole, with a visual historical treat in the alcove next to the building. Faster riders are welcome, too...just save me a Bear Claw! Bring a friend. Optional lunch at Orinda Square (Petra's Greek Cafe, Europa Hof-Brau, Nation's burgers, Subway, Peet's and Starbucks). https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14580950. Check out Social Biker Group on Facebook. Join free.
