Leader: Mark Abrahams     (510) 524-1294
Meet at 8:30 am for a 8:35 am start
Start Location: Berkeley - Spruce & Grizzly Peak Blvd - Plaza

Independence Day! We will ride in the morning, not the evening, to allow you to get to BBQ's, fireworks, etc. in the evening — and to avoid all the siteseers who will congregate at all the Grizzly lookout points. Otherwise, the usual description appplies: Friendly but hilly workout & skills ride. Today we'll have a formal leader for the M group only, as none of the regular B leaders are available. However B folks are welcome to show up and organize themselves. Either group will give you a sustained hard workout and will help develop your skills in climbing, descending, drafting, pacelining, positioning, and sprinting. Please read ride details and route description at http://www.abriz.net/gpc/tues-ride.html. RAIN CANCELS.

For those spending the holiday close to home, let's ride the road we're named after.  We'll beat the Tuesday Evening ride to the punch by following the same route (Grizzly Peak, Skyline, Redwood, Pinehurst and back), but the pace will be a more moderate TM (there's no way to change the 3100' of climbing we'll do).  One other change will be our start location at Island Rest Stop in Tilden Park (parking, bathrooms, water available).  No planned lunch stop, but we will re-group at Sibley on both the outbound and return legs.  Bring water and snacks.  Be home for a late lunch.    Leader rides a TM pace, but everyone who either knows the route or is comfortable following a cue sheet is welcome.

Easy parking. Lunch will be in Pescadero where we will fill up on great food to help (or hinder) the long climbs on Stage Rd and Tunitas Creek. Tilden Park - Island Picnic Area

Ride repeats on the Third Saturday of each month.

Ride out to Pinole, along San Pablo Dam Road and Pinole Valley Road.  Our goal is to get some riders who may cringe at riding the hilly 'bears route'; but who would like to do about 30 miles to maybe get back into riding again. Planned destination is the Bear Claw Cafe, a quaint, old-timey family bakery in downtown Pinole, with a visual historical treat in the alcove next to the building. Faster riders are welcome, too...just save me a Bear Claw! Bring a friend. Optional lunch at Orinda Square (Petra's Greek Cafe, Europa Hof-Brau, Nation's burgers, Subway, Peet's and Starbucks). https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14580950 Check out Social Biker Group on Facebook. Come kick off Jessica's birthday weekend with a celebratory ride in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains and along the coast.  The start time will be somewhat later to allow for Bay Area traffic on a Friday morning...but if you brave the traffic, you will be well awarded with a lovely route and a fun party on our bikes!  There will be a lunch stop, and water and bathroom stops, but bring snacks to sustain you as needed. There is a loop that you can skip to cut off about 8 miles if you so desire.  We will look for a good spot afterwards to grab drinks and cupcakes or ice cream to top off the day.

Despite the name, PoE is not just for retirees - all ages are welcome. Wanted to make that clear. RSVP if you want a piece of paper with the route or go modern and download it to your device of choice.

The Peloton of Elders, usually a Tuesday group, is going to the Peninsula for a Saturday in the west bay hills. We'll do the Woodside - Old La Honda - Pescadero - Stage Rd - Tunitas Creek loop but will start and end at the top of La Canada and SR92, where San Mateo Bicycle Sunday starts, which adds another 15 miles. Easy parking. Lunch will be in Pescadero where we will fill up on great food to help (or hinder) the long climbs on Stage Rd and Tunitas Creek. As usual for PoE, leader would like RSVPs prior to Saturday. Of course, that may be leader's wishful thinking. If you want, just show up and ride.
