The Do-Over: Delta Tour to Sacramento
Leader: Mary Ann Jawili     (661) 343-5737
Leader: Jessica Jensen     (510) 508-6389
Meet at 9:00 am for a 9:15 am start
GPC Route: Antioch-Sacramento
Start Location: Antioch BART

Join us for a tour of the delta and out to our state capitol! This is a mostly flat ride with some interesting route landmarks and diversions: three bridges, the delta, waterfront country roads, two ferries, and even a mansion. The CA-160 bridge is short and steep. On roads with no shoulder, we may break up into smaller groups and reconvene at predetermined points. Food and restroom at Rio Vista (Mile 16.5) and Clarksburg (Mile 41). Beer and barbecue (with vegetarian options) in Sacramento.

This route is designed to start with the BART train arriving at Antioch at 8:56am.

Riders are responsible for getting their own Amtrak tickets and getting on the train. Leaders will take riders to the train station in time for the 4:55pm Capitol Corridor/Amtrak train back to the East Bay. Riders may take a later train if they want. Note that there's a Buy-One-Get-Five-Half-Off deal; riders are welcome to self-organize to take advantage of the deal.

This is not a no-drop ride. We will ride at a T-pace, which is defined as 10-12 mph on the Three Bears Loop. Given the flatness of this ride, average moving speed will probably be ~13 mph. Faster riders will have to wait, and slower riders will get dropped.

Poor AQI and/or extreme heat will cancel this ride.

UPDATE:
  • Capital Corridor is offering a 30% discount for all one-way and round-trip fares through the end of the year. No advance purchase required. Buy online with the promo code V530.
  • Sacramento food and drinks will be at Urban Roots Brewery & Smokehouse
  • If either ferry is out of service, we will follow this route instead. Ferry status will be confirmed in the morning before we roll.
