SUN MAY 14 3/TM/42 Sunday at Pt Reyes -- Bear Valley to Chimney Rock
Leader: Stephanie Clarke     (510) 423-1873
Meet at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am start
GPC Route: Pt. Reyes Lighthouse
Start Location: Point Reyes Bear Valley Visitor Center
Pre-registration

Can't make Saturday's Worker's Century? Not up for heading in-land and dealing with summertime heat? Let's take a page out of the Wednesday's book and head to the coast where moderate temperatures should reign and the elephant seals are still on the beach. We'll start at the Bear Valley Visitor's Center in Pt Reyes Nat'l Park, in the lot across the road from the visitor center itself. Large clean bathrooms and water available at the start. From there it's a bit more strenuous effort to get to Chimney Rock than stopping at Drake's Beach, but worth it to have lunch at the picnic tables serenaded by the resident elephant seal pups/teenagers. Beautiful purple Iris may also still be in bloom. Lunch will be at Chimney Rock, but optional pre- or post-lunch climb out to the Lighthouse for anyone who wants it (the leader will not be joining you for that!) Bring lunch or order ahead from Inverness Park Market: https://orders.cake.net/10021940 [they can be very slow, especially on weekends, so pre-ordering is wise if you know you want a sandwich]. Two water bottles are in order because there's no water out at Chimney Rock (though available at either the Lighthouse or Drake's Beach if you are up for the steep pitches involved for either option). It's always wise to bring a windjacket for the coast, and of course a bike in good working condition. Rain will cancel, but that's not in the forecast, so let's take advantage of our great spring weather and ride! Pre-registration is appreciated.

  3. California Civil Code section 1542 states: 'A general release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his favor at the time of executing the release, which if known by him must have materially affected his settlement with the debtor.' I specifically waive the terms of that section, and agree to release claims that I may not yet know of, or which may be based on events that have not yet occurred.
  4. If I am allowing children under the age of 18 to participate in any activity, I agree on their behalf to the terms of this Release. If, in the course of performing volunteer service for Grizzly Peak Cyclists, I provide or develop any software, procedures, data, maps, cue-sheets, artwork, or other material in which I have any ownership or copyright rights, I grant to the club license to copy, modify, retain and use such material in perpetuity for its purposes without compensation either implicitly by this agreement or by any compatible explicit license. Such grant is not needed for presentations or writings intended for one-time use, such as meeting presentations or items sent to the newsletter.
