Meet at 9:00 am for a 9:15 am start
Start Location: Orinda BART NW corner of parking lot
Newsflash: As of Nov 3, 2017 Alhambra Valley Road is open. As much as possible, ASSR will use the traditional routes. However Redwood Road is still closed. Allegretto and Presto riders will continue to use alternative routes.
The first 7.5 miles all pace groups ride together at a social pace...you'll ride with club members you might not see for the rest of the month. After that, we split into five separate pace groups. The pace groups are named after musical tempi. Click on the tempo for the exact Route. More information about this ride, excluding route details, is posted on-line at http://www.grizz.org/rides/assr.php Rain cancels. If weather is questionable, or for other questions, contact ASSR Coordinator John Buenfil. Leaders TBA.
Leader: Mark Abrahams (510) 524-1294
Meet at 8:30 am for a 8:35 am start
Start Location: Berkeley - Spruce & Grizzly Peak Blvd - north side
If the ASSR was rained out, then we will ride the usual Presto route of the month, but with no stop at Orinda BART and no all-club social segment. Your meetup choices are: (1) Spruce St & Grizzly Peak Blvd in Berkeley (meet 8:30am sharp, ready to ride; roll 8:35am); or (2) Wildcat & SPDR (be at the northeast corner, ready to ride, by 9:00am); or (3) arrive at Orinda BART on the 08:45 train, meet any other Prestos who were also on the train, and ride together to Wildcat/SPDR. If coming by BART, please RSVP so we'll know to wait a bit if the train is delayed.
This ride will happen only if the ASSR Presto was rained out (or significantly shortened) and if Sunday's weather is ok. To confirm, or if Sunday's weather is doubtful, contact ride leader by 9:00pm the night before — don't assume anything.

Start Location: Orinda BART NW corner of parking lot
Sunrise 7:18, sunset 4:51, BART arrival 8:05
Ride on nearly the shortest day of the year, from Orinda to Livermore via
Danville. Coffee in Danville, lunch in Livermore. 20% chance rain postpones.
Leader: Mark Abrahams (510) 524-1294
Meet at 8:00 am for a 8:05 am start Rain Date: Sun Dec 17
Start Location: Berkeley - Spruce & Grizzly Peak Blvd - north side
Route is at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26594094 Optional meetup point at Camino Pablo / Miner Rd but if using that please confirm with me in advance - if possible by 9pm the night before.
Meet 8:00am, ready to ride, at Spruce St and Grizzly Peak Blvd in Berkeley (plenty of on-street parking, or just ride there) for a prompt 8:05am start on this traditional December ride.
We'll ride from Berkeley to Livermore for the express purpose of a hot sit-down winter lunch at Tequila's Taqueria. One year, a certain club member pronounced it “the best burrito he had ever eaten” ... but he was probably pretty hungry! It's a flat-and-rollery route to Livermore and back; no serious climbs. Good pacelining terrain; good long-steady-endurance base winter miles.
RSVP's appreciated (but not required) for map count. Rain or 20% chance likely postpones to Sunday. If weather is doubtful, contact ride leader by 9:00pm the night before — don't assume anything.

Ride out to Pinole, along San Pablo Dam Road and Pinole Valley Road. Our goal is to get some riders who may cringe at riding the hilly 'bears route'; but who would like to do about 30 miles to maybe get back into riding again. Planned destination is the Bear Claw Cafe, a quaint, old-timey family bakery in downtown Pinole, with a visual historical treat in the alcove next to the building. Faster riders are welcome, too...just save me a Bear Claw! Bring a friend. Optional lunch at Orinda Square (Petra's Greek Cafe, Europa Hof-Brau, Nation's burgers, Subway, Peet's and Starbucks). https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14580950.

Start at Redwood and Skyline, Oakland at 9AM or start earlier at the firehouse (Skyline at Colton and Snake, Oakland). We'll take the zoo route to CV, Dublin Grade etc to Danville Peet's, return on LM trail and Canyon Rd. Those starting at firehouse will go right on Pinehurst, leader and potential others will go left and up Redwood back to start point.

Develop your night time group riding skills. Route is Grizzly and Skyline as far as Roberts; regroup and reverse route. We will ride in full dark, so bring descent-worthy front and rear lights which you have set to solid — not blinking. Reflective gear is encouraged — anklebands, etc. Contact me in advance if you have questions about night riding. Inclement weather (rain; significant threat; or starting temps below 45 degrees) postpones. More ride info is at http://www.abriz.net/gpc/rad.html including current raindate status. Please read that page in full before your first RAD ride.

Join us for the club's annual Holiday Dinner Party. We'll enjoy a delicious Nepalese buffet dinner (and yes, there will be plenty of vegetarian options!). The cost is $35/person (all 2017 Century Volunteers receive a $10 discount). You can get more info and RSVP online here or check your December Wheel Truth for an order form if you prefer snail mail. Please RSVP by 12/10 so we can get an accurate headcount.
This weekly ride often tours through West Marin, but sometimes travels to Napa, Sonoma, or Livermore, depending on the season. We have frequent regroups and usually stop for a real lunch, if it is available on the route. For this week's leader and route see our online calendar. The ride is usually posted in the calendar by Monday evening. Weather cancellations will also be updated on the calendar. If you don't have web access you can call Mark Nienberg at (510) 812-9312 for the information.

Check out Social Biker Group on Facebook. Join free.
