The ride starts in South East San Jose at the Walmart Market parking lot where bathrooms and food are available. The Quimby climbs is a 3 mile 1700 foot grind starting 1.5 miles from the parking lot. Riders will find Quimby is good to do with fresh legs in the cool morning air and rewards with spectacular views of the South Bay. From there its an exhilarating decent back to Alum Rock. Lots of spots to refuel and hydrate before turning onto the Coyote Creek Bike Path just past Hwy 101. It’s twisty and turny but the path is in great shape and pleasant change from the road. Metcalf is also very steep but its less than 2 miles and about 1000 feet. Don’t forget to look back and enjoy the great view. Metcalf Road passes by the Coyote Creek Open Space reserve and turns onto San Felipe which takes you downhill back to your starting point. |
