Ride will cross the Livermore Valley, go over Patterson Pass. Stop
at the AM/PM Mini-Mart at the bottom of Patterson Pass for a quick
break and then on to a decent lunch break in Livermore via the
Altamont Pass. Ride back to BART using the same route. It's

from there via BART. The afternoon route continues via Blackhawk,
Danville, etc, and is less hilly than the morning route. Single

Biking and Birding Oakland and Alameda
This BART to BART ride will stop at Arrowhead Marsh, then proceed
to bike and bird the Alameda shoreline to view wintering ducks and
shorebirds. In the past, we have seen over 50 species on this trip.
Pat will bring a scope to share, and will appreciate help carrying
(if you ride with a rack) or if not at least help managing it. Meet
10:15 a.m. near the ticket machines at the Coliseum BART station
(Leaders plan to be on the BART train scheduled to arrive at
10:09). Ride ends at the Lake Merritt BART station. Bring

Alex's Second Saturday Ride
Three regular routes, all pretty hilly, meet at Orinda BART lot at
9:00 a.m. for a prompt 9:15 departure. Sign up for one of 3 rides:
23-mi Larghetto, hilly but moderately slow; 65mi Allegretto, a bit
faster, with a 55mi alternate option and an 80mi Presto, faster
yet. The Larghettos complete the three bears loop. The Allegrettos
climb Pig Farm, Reliez Valley, Olympic, Danville to lunch and then
Norris Cyn and Redwood. The 55-mi Allegretto Alternate returns from
lunch via Lafayette. Lunch at Diablo Deli in the Diablo Plaza (just
past Crow Cyn). Optional post ride snack on Moraga Way in Orinda

This is a simple out and back ride to the summit of the mountain on
very remote rural roads. There is limited water (mile 30 and at the
summit) and no food along the route until approximately mile 70.
Carry what you'll need. Any rider who be out after 5:00 should

the bike path and over Pinehurst. The only substantial climbs are
Tunnel and Pinehurst, otherwise a flat to rolling fast route. Lunch
at the Taqueria in Livermore, stops will be few and short. Because
of the short day (the second shortest of the year) we'll try to
keep moving. Sunset is 4:53, end of civil twilight 5:23 so bring

departure. We'll warm up climbing Spruce to Wildcat, down SPDR to
Valley View, Appian Way and Tara Hills. From there it's onto Giant
Hwy into Point Pinole. We'll take the paved Pt Pinole trail out to
the pier. Ride the trail back to the main picnic area for lunch.
From San Pablo Bay, you get spectacular views of Mt Tam, the
hillsides of Solano and Sonoma counties and of course our lovely
backyard refineries. This area can get very windy, dress

9 mi to breakfast at Kaliente and decide on the rest of the ride as

25mi option: Dam Rd after breakfast, up Wildcat and down Spruce.
This route may not have an official leader, but it's an easy route

Del Puerto Loop
Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Livermore Civic Center on S Livermore Ave
(take N Livermore exit off I580). This classic route takes us out
over Tesla and Coral Hollow into the Central Valley. From here
we'll head south, making our way down to lunch and Del Puerto
Canyon. The ride up Del Puerto is beautiful and very quiet. The top
1-1/2 miles of this route has 700 feet of climbing (9% avg), thus
the ! in the listing. After a stop at the Junction, we'll head
north on Mines road back to the cars. Slow riders will be on their
own. Any rider who has any chance of being out after 4:30 (8 hrs
