GPC Ride Schedule for April

(Last modified Friday, April 10 2015, @ 18:26 PDT)

In addition to the rides listed below, we also have weekly rides.

See our ride rating system to decode the secret markings 3/TM/50 etc.

Wed Apr 1   11!/B2/1,978   April Fool's Tour de Bike Shoppes (Tour de BS)
An annual phenomenon! Visit the area's breathtaking bike shops to have your bike worked on! You will be required to buy and have installed in functioning condition either a new carbon wheelset, a returned brand-name GPS bike computer, new carbon seat post (or stem or handlebar), or new carbon frame at each bike shop control. (So bring plastic!) Normal BSUSA rules on conspicuity apply; controls at each bike shop need receipt (converted to Euros) and time in/out (converted to military GMT = for p.m. +12 and +7, dating next day, if necessary) noted on a BSUSA Minestere-issued card. (Bring lights, it could take a while at some shops.) Meet at Spruce/Grizz at 9:30 a.m. for a prompt 9:40 a.m. start (1640 military GMT) before the shops open. Most riders will return within a fortnight. RSVP with reply confirmation strongly suggested to wool clad Dan Druff <Dan_Druff94707 at aol dot com> or randy Tig Marsden at <butterfingers_IKR at well dot com>. (No, they won't lend you a few bucks.)

Sat Apr 18   3/L/28   Orinda BART to Pinole Bear Claw Cafe
Ride repeats on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Ride out to Pinole, along San Pablo Dam Road and Pinole Valley Road. Meet at Orinda BART parking lot (NW corner, where Second Saturday Ride meets). Our goal is to get some riders who may cringe at riding the hilly 'bears route'; but who would like to do about 30 miles to maybe get back into riding again. Planned destination is the Bear Claw Cafe, a quaint, old-timey family bakery in downtown Pinole, with a visual historical treat in the alcove next to the building. Faster riders are welcome, too...just save me a Bear Claw! Bring a friend. Meet 9:45 a.m. for 10:00 a.m. roll-out. Optional lunch at Orinda Square (Petra's Greek Cafe, Nation's burgers, Subway, Peet's and Starbucks). Leaders: Jim O'Melia <jimomelia at rocketmail dot com> (925) 262-3882, Danimal Tonelli <danimal21 at juno dot com> et al.

Sat Apr 18   2/M/100-120   Gordon and Wooden Valley
Meet 8:00 a.m. at Spruce St & Grizzly Peak Blvd in Berkeley for a prompt 8:10 departure. We will ride over the Benicia Bridge, through Cordelia, and on to Gordon and Wooden Valleys in Solano County. The 120 mile version does two out-and-backs to the north ends of the two valleys, right up to the Napa County border. (BYOSss ... salt, supplies, sustenance, etc. because we will take only short breaks in riding.) Meanwhile the 100 mile version skips the out-and-backs and instead enjoys a (leaderless) sit-down lunch in the Rockville cafe (BYOP - er, pickle from the Tower Gas Mart). We'll plan to rendezvous there and ride home together. If it's hot we will be able to get cold and/or caffeinated drinks and ice at the two Tower Markets in Cordelia and Rockville. RSVP email appreciated for cue sheet count. Chris Bailey c4bailey at gmail.com (415) 725-5310.
