Sat May 23   4/105/M   Mt Tamalpais, Stinson Beach from Miller Creek
This is a repeat of the ride offered in April when turnout suffered from competition with the Easter bunny and beef brisket, so perhaps this time more Grizzlies are free to come climb one of the Bay Area's favorite mountains, wade through the traffic jams at Muir Woods and Stinson Beach, cruise the coast, and enjoy the quiet "BoFax" (Bolinas-Fairfax) Road twice. After riding up Lucas Valley Road and over to Fairfax, we will do the clockwise circuit over Alpine Dam, along the "Seven Sisters" (W. Ridgecrest) to the peak, around past Muir's Woods & Beach, then stopping (sic) for lunch at the small park opposite the market in Stinson Beach (sandwichs are available there). For the return we'll make a special side trip (no extra charge) out to Bolinas and to the end of Mesa Road - this adds 9.5 miles and can be skipped if you prefer. Then we'll go up BoTox - oops, that's BoFax - Road for its return reiteration and continue retracing our outbound route but taking the "back road" though San Geronimo Valley to stop at the Woodacre store for a bite or drink. Meet opposite the Miller Creek Community Center just off Lucas Valley Road at 7:45 a.m. for an 8:00 departure. Bring enough calories to get you through the 55 miles from the start to Stinson Beach lunch; water will be available at the Mt Tam summit at mile 35. Maps will be distributed at the start of the ride; an emailed RSVP will be appreciated for a count. (Note: I have no electronic maps but can send a cue sheet on request.) Mark Homrighausen homrighaus @aol.com (preferred) or (510) 528-9339.

Rain cancels, Leaders: John Buenfil, <eleganttype at mac dot com> (925) 408-2360 and Karen Street, <karen_street at sbcglobal dot net>.

Mon May 25 (Memorial Day)   50/TM/2   Solano County Wine Country
Join us on the less travelled roads of the Solano County wine country -- all the beauty of Napa, but a bit closer to home. The route is taken from a recent Wednesday ride (Patrick's birthday ride), starting in Fairfield, heading out to Mankas Corner, Gordon and Wooden Valley Roads, out to the store on the corner of CA-121 & 128. The approximately 5 1/2 miles each way on Hwy 121 may have a fair amount of traffic headed to Lake Berryessa. Bring lunch or $$ to buy at the store. Optional additional 6 miles out and back to Steele Canyon campground for those who wish to add in an additional climb. Meet in the Costco lot in Fairfield on Business Center Drive in Fairfield (directions: I-80 East to Green Valley/Cordelia exit; Left on Green Valley Rd; Left on Business Center Drive; Left into shopping center parking lot, meet near the Starbucks). Meet-up at 8:45 a.m., ride at 9:00 to beat the heat. Rain, however unlikely, will cancel. Leaders: Stephanie Clarke (510) 558-9614, <stephclarkebike at gmail dot com>; Jennifer Fury.
